What is our open position?
Citi technology are seeking a seasoned professional to assume the role of Tooling Engineer , responsible for driving engineering best practices and adoption within Equities Technology .
This is a hybrid role within Equities Production Support to support our Engineering initiative, primary focus will be on strategic tooling but there will also be opportunities to take on additional support responsibilities if desired.

We’ll also be looking for the following:
Previous experience within Application Support, Development or DevOps based role.
Experience with automation
Experience with applications hosted within Unix environment
Database SQL knowledge in any Relation Database Management System
Experience with some programming languages such as Unix Shell Scripting, Python or Perl and willingness to learn.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems
Experience using/troubleshooting Office with emphasis on Word, Excel.
Knowledge of third party tool like 3Forge/Elastic(ELK)/Splunk
Ability to multitask with sharp problem solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication with an ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand, adjusting appropriately for relevant stakeholder.
Statistical and analytical mind set with proactive ingenuity and creativity
Attention to detail
Project management and leadership skills.
Other desirable (not essential) experience or qualifications:
Experience in developing tools using third party/vendor products.
Previous experience with ITRS Geneos Monitoring and Service Now
Experience working within Financial organization
Knowledge of Fix Protocol
Knowledge of network latency measurement tools like Corvil/PICO
What do we do?
We work in partnership with our business, operations, and technology partners to provide best in class support within our production environment, providing quick resolutions to their issues, driving stability, efficiency, and effectiveness improvements to help us and the business succeed. The primary focus of this role will be on Tooling in support of our stability, efficiency, and effectiveness objectives as we aim to provide the best possible service to our stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities include:
Ownership of Support Tooling Project items, covering Stability, Efficiency, and Effectiveness initiatives for Cash Equities.
Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects.
Formulating strategies for tooling development and other functional areas.
Manages, maintains, and supports applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality, and functionality against service level expectations.
Developing and maintaining technical support documentation.
Identify ways to maximize the potential of the applications used
Defines scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution
Partners with appropriate development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
Participate in application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production.
Engages in post implementation analysis to ensure successful system design and functionality.
Considers implications of the application of technology to the current environment. Identifies risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues; communicates impact.
Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps to define operating standards and processes.
Acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts.
Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of information in complicated and unique situations.
Exhibits sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information.
Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

6-10 years’ experience in an Application Support role.
Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills

Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand.

Issue tracking and reporting using tools
Knowledge/ experience of problem Management Tools.
Good all-round technical skills
Effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams
Ability to plan and organize workload
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholder
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
