Commercial Mortgage Loan Originator - Vice President
Originator responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating new loans with the appropriate risk profile for various fund and separate accounts mandates managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
Develop and manage sourcing relationships.
Make recommendations on new prospective origination opportunities.
Prepare and negotiate term sheets and loan applications.
Manage the due diligence process, including the final underwritings and preparation of the loan approval memos.
Assist with the closing process which includes the coordination of loan funding with internal operations.
From time to time assist with various asset management duties for existing positions within the portfolio.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience with an institutional real estate investor or lender:
Extensive knowledge of fundamental real estate cash flow and valuation analysis for office, industrial, retail and multifamily sectors.
Ability to analyze real estate markets and sub-markets and the positioning of the subject property within them.
Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in Argus property/portfolio modeling software as well as excel.
Seasoned credit skills with ability to prepare and present new loans to credit committee.
Ideal candidate will also have significant experience with deal management of complex, large loans and/or subordinate financing including:
Proven risk identification and structuring skills to mitigate risks.
Working knowledge of loan documentation (including intercreditor agreements) and experience managing legal aspects of transactions including negotiating loan documents.
Ability to review and analyze third party reports including engineering, environmental and appraisal analyses.
Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the closing and funding process.
Superb interpersonal skills to establish and manage relationships with borrowers, mortgage bankers, participating lenders, lawyers and team members.
Experience should include exposure to the public markets, rating agencies and CMBS and REIT markets but does not require extensive investment experience.
Highly diligent and detail oriented.
Strong project management skills to manage a large volume of workflow.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Formal credit training is desired, but not requisite.
Significant initiative and team orientation required.
Experience must demonstrate that the candidate has all of the skills listed above.
