Marc Jacobs Assistant Buyer – Global Retail in New York, New York

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks an Assistant Buyer – Global Retail to join the Global Merchandising Team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop a global understanding of the Marc Jacobs customer and ensure appropriate product assortments are available in stores and online to drive sales and maximize profitability.

  • Implement channel-specific regional merchandise strategies that are in line with the retail investment and company strategy.

  • Work with regional teams to make sure all product needs and business opportunities are met, ensure global alignment and execution of strategies set by headquarters to achieve business objectives.

  • Execute and own weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting and assist in presentations to senior leadership.

  • Develop and maintain product assortment for key licensed categories in entire global retail network – specifically for Eyewear, Fragrance and Little Marc.

  • Analyze and forecast product performance and inventory levels to make informed decisions on what and how much to buy back into utilizing historical data and seasonal trends.

  • Key purchase orders into the system and upload orders.

  • Maintain management of Anaplan (replenishment tool) to ensure Global assortments are reflected in Anaplan and replenishing stores correctly.

  • Partner with key cross-functional teams to execute merchandising and buying strategies: Planning, Visual Merchandising and eCommerce.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Merchandising, Buying, Planning or Allocations fields.

  • High degree of proficiency in experience with Microsoft Office – specifically advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Consumer focused perspective with a passion for product.

  • Ability to stay focused on achieving goals and creating winning results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organization and follow up skills.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, resourceful, efficient, and able to take initiative.

  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Must be able to work 4 days in the office.

    Born in NYC in 1963, Marc Jacobs graduated from Parsons School of Design, where he was youngest designer ever to receive the CFDA's Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In 1992, Jacobs showed his grunge collection for Perry Ellis. In April 1994, he successfully debuted his eponymous collection. Since then, he's spearheaded countless successful ready-to-wear, handbag, fragrance, cosmetics & book launches.

    SALARY & BENEFITS: 

    The compensation for this position ranges from $55,000- $62,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. In addition, there is a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, various paid time off programs, employee discount/perks, and a retirement plan with employer contribution.
