The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in achieving sales and profit objectives for a specific merchandise category or categories. This responsibility includes the development and successful implementation of buying strategies, merchandise programs and marketing plans. The Assistant Buyer is responsible for independently running the day-to-day tasks of the buying office and acts as a competent go-to person for all divisions of company and outside vendors. Reports directly to Buyer.


  • Sku set up and ongoing management of product portfolio

  • Price changes, troubleshooting, UPC changes

  • Promo / coupon set up for FIFO & seasonal markdowns

  • Generates weekly and monthly selling reports to analyze business trends

  • Support buyer and marketing team to develop well rounded product launches

  • Build seasonal sell sheets

  • Assist with negotiating pricing

  • Support Buyer with communicating and educating all divisions on new product

  • Support Buyer in seasonal buys and ad hoc projects

  • Maintain current vendor catalogs

  • Assist with assortment presentations, power point documents and sample requests

  • Maintain vendor relationships


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Fashion or Marketing preferred

  • Must be articulate, assertive and have excellent communication skills

  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively with a high sense of urgency

  • Strong math skills; ability to analyze sales and product statistics to support effective merchandising decisions

  • Must be able to build effective working relationships with vendors and colleagues

  • Strong computer skills in MS Suite required

  • Excel spreadsheet experience

  • Self-Motivated & Creative

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to get the job done
