About the Role
The role supports Gap’s Public Relations team, reporting to the Manager of PR and working with the SR Director of PR. This role requires strong collaboration and communication, partnering with PR, agency partners, broader marketing, and cross functional brand teams on a regular basis to drive brand awareness through daily communication with media to generate high-quality earned editorial for the brand. The Public Relations Assistant Manager is an integral member of the team ensuring a successfully organized department within a fast paced, energetic, and innovative cultural American brand. A clear communicator with a laser focus on the details. You don't wait to be told what to do next because you've already identified it. You are constantly learning and providing insight, eager to master new tools and new platforms. You are a problem solver with an understanding and appreciation of the fashion industry and the value of earned media attention through public relation efforts.
What You'll Do
Project manage and liaise with Merchandising and Product Development teams to ensure the PR team has all seasonal launches and accurate product information on a daily basis
Proactively and continually shape and craft stories that stand out among the thousands of pitches reporters receive daily
Contribute to national and regional covered media stories during relevant, cultural moments from ideation to planning and execution phases
Build and manage junior level national, regional and trade media, market editor relationships to contribute to earned media strategies
Coordinate and communicate directly with editors, stylists and assistants for sample pulls and returns, messengers/shipments to ensure samples are delivered on time and returned properly
Manage personal press thank yous as appropriate
Manage PR agency on editorial product requests: fulfilling warehouse orders, sample, imagery and credit requests, and any store pulls or coordination
Craft and cadence relevant product pitches that support seasonal priorities and trends
Support the development of key press materials including press releases, media alerts, and talking points
Manage credit reporting: partner with PR Agency to develop and continuously improve reporting and sharing results with an emphasis on tying to metrics
Report on seasonal and breaking trends relevant to PR to guide potential pitches, product development, marketing, partnerships, strategic growth and beyond
Oversee and update all PR master lists
Who You Are
PR agency experience is a bonus
Minimum 2-3 years’ PR experience
