Macmillan Assistant Manager, Sales in New York, New York

Description

Macmillan is seeking an Assistant Manager, Sales to manage the Gift Sales Channel, including commission sales groups servicing the gift channel and key national accounts managed by commission sales groups. Reporting to the Associate Director of Gift Sales, the ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, growing, and maintaining relationships in the gift business.

The assistant manager will be responsible for assisting the Associate Director with building business for specialty retail while also managing their own specialty retail accounts.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with Gift Sales Assistant to support the day-to-day selling activities of commission rep groups and select specialty retailers including oversight of monthly commission reports.

  • Manage and grow business across accounts in specialty retail by selling frontlist and backlist titles and actively solicitating reorders.

  • Provide sales analysis and communicate account activities to associate sales director.

  • Provide insight and feedback on retail trends, and merchandising needs.

  • Prepare sales materials for reps, key accounts and specialty retail accounts, including sell sheets and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Create the Gift catalog.

  • Participate in the development, planning of seasonal gift shows.

  • Attend and sell at gift shows, customer meetings (virtually and in person).

  • Attend internal launch, sales, publisher, and marketing meetings where applicable.

What you'll bring:

  • Complete knowledge of the Microsoft Office (excel, PowerPoint, word, pivot tables, v-lookup) and Google Suites of programs.

  • Excellent analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Skilled in verbal and written communication.

  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.

  • Possess enthusiasm and initiative for sales.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 2-3 times a year to gift shows.

    Education/Experience:

  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience working in the Gift/Specialty market within the publishing industry with direct sales experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
