HarperCollins Publishers Assistant Managing Editor in New York, New York
HarperAudio is looking for an Assistant Managing Editor to join our close-knit, dynamic team. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor of audiobook publishing, working behind the scenes to become the secret weapon in publishing!
A little about you: You are highly organized, tech-savvy, and interested in data and processes. You have a passion for books and the spoken word and working closely with teammates. A fast learner who takes ownership of their projects, you are most at home managing data, liaising across departments, and problem solving to ensure the seamless production of audiobooks.
The job: You will handle seasonal fiction and non-fiction audiobook lists spanning a variety of genres and imprints. Working with Print Production, Executive Producers, Production Managers, Art Directors, and out-of-house collaborators, you will work on approximately 300 titles per calendar year through the audiobook production process from inception to finished product. You will provide support on both standard and enhanced audiobooks for single voice narration, multicast productions, author narrations, and more.
Maintain metadata in title and marketing databases from contracting stage through the product life cycle.
Input audiobook cover jobs in our internal trafficking system and route through to finished cover.
Obtain and post book interiors for outside vendors.
Prepare book files to be read for the audiobook, making it listener friendly, and create guidelines for PDF downloads to accompany the audiobook as needed.
Liaise across departments to ensure that recording material, metadata, and covers are available and ready by deadlines, and communicate any changes to stakeholders.
Work on audiobooks for our Spanish imprint.
At least 1 year prior managing editorial experience in book, audio, and/or magazine publishing or related experience in the ad/promo, film, TV, or music industry
Knowledge of Spanish (conversational to fluent) required
Excellent organizational skills and strong ability to multitask a must
Solid attention to detail and accuracy required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn multiple systems and implement knowledge quickly
Ability to scrutinize current workflows and improve processes and systems
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality
Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under pressure
Self-motivated, with the ability to reprioritize at a moment’s notice
Proficiency using Excel and Adobe Acrobat
Previous experience with Microsoft Lists a plus
College degree or equivalent experience
This role is currently based out of New York, New York. You will need to commute to the office when it reopens.
