HarperCollins Publishers Assistant Publicist in New York, New York
Overview
HarperOne Group is currently seeking an Assistant Publicist to provide support to senior members of the publicity team for HarperVia, Amistad and HarperOne. If you have interest in multicultural titles, love fiction and are curious about learning more about the world around you this is the position for you. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, multi-tasker, has strong organizational skills, and brings a positive, energetic attitude to all they do.
Responsibilities
Assists senior level Publicists with all aspects of book and author publicity campaigns.
Helps write and produce press materials.
Schedules tours and coordinates all author logistics.
Coordinates all mailings of books, galleys, and other materials.
Assists with event planning.
Coordinates galley orders across all departments.
Tracks budgets.
Responds to outside inquiries, including review copy requests and general information questions.
Under supervision, works on a few campaigns per season which includes setting strategy, engaging in regular author communication, pitching media, podcasts, blogs, and arranging events and travel logistics.
Participates in editorial board and collaborates with marketing and editorial.
Qualifications
4-year college degree or equivalent experience
Prior internship experience in publishing or publicity preferred
Experience with/knowledge of multicultural fiction titles
Genuine enthusiasm for books
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be detailed-oriented, have strong organizational skills, and must be able to manage priorities under pressure
Has a positive, upbeat attitude and acts as a team player
Ability to take initiative and direction
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
Strong detail management skills are necessary
Able to travel to author events in New York
