The Assistant Rowing Coach provides instructional, administrative, and equipment maintenance support services under the direction and supervision of the Director of Rowing. The role will assist all three programs on a daily basis, both on the water and in the office.**Actively recruiting to fill two positions***Responsibilities include;* Competency in rowing skill instruction and motivation, an understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment; strong recruiting, teaching and coaching skills; an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, staff and alumni.* Exhibiting leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student-athletes* Completing all assignments made by the Director of Rowing, the Women's Head Coach and the Head Lightweight Coach* Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Ivy League Conference, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations and/or Code of Ethics* Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department* Responsible for teaching in the required Physical Education program.* Support the Director of Rowing and Head Coaches in the coordination, organization, and guidance of the Columbia Rowing Program.* Comply with applicable NCAA, Conference, University and Departmental rules and regulations.* Prepare routine and recurring correspondence on behalf of the coaching staff* Assist as assigned with donor and alumni engagement* Coordinate with sports information and oversee rowing's website, Instagram, Twitter, etc.* Work directly with athletics business office on purchasing process and adhere to university policies and procedures for requests* Manage processing and payments of invoices for the program through accounts payable and corporate card management and reconciliation* Assist in the management of department and university management programs such as CONCUR, ARMS, etc.* Assist in managing all team travel operations and coordinate, schedule and be point of contact to travel vendors.* Assist in coordination of logistics for home regattas including officials, set-up vendor management, contracts, etc.* Assist in collecting all receipts from travel expenses. Manage reimbursements and expense reports after all away travel for all staff.* Assist in administering the submission of invoices, expense reports, and payment coordination with vendors and Athletics Business office.* Support in team equipment logistics (ordering, delivery, storage, embroidery, etc.)* Assist in serving our alumni network and organizing our annual alumni events in conjunction with KCRA* Assist in maintaining and managing equipment related to rowing including but not limited to coaching launches and motors, rowing shells, oars, rowing machines, coxswain/coach electronics, team truck and boat trailers.* Drive short and long distances with rowing shells in tow.* Assist in transporting equipment to repair locations as needed (i.e., shell repair, engine repair, trailer repair, etc.)* Assist in maintaining contracts with suppliers insuring on time payment for team equipment* Assist in race course maintenance* Assist in ordering and planning for spare parts for all facets of the program* Maintain licenses, insurance certificates, and registrations for university owned team vehicles* Attend training camps and/or summer camps as needed* Work outdoors in all conditions.* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. *Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's DegreeMinimum Qualification:- Successful background in collegiate competition or coaching, preferably at the Division I level- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and alumni- Ability to work within the framework of NCAA and Ivy League regulations and a need-based financial aid program- Valid Driver's LicenseColumbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranPay Transparency DisclosureThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
