FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College is the flagship nursing school of the City University of New York and prepares nurses for 21st century practice in complex urban environments with diverse populations. The School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. This full-time faculty position will include teaching and student mentorship responsibilities for the Nurse Anesthesia Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. The successful candidate will maintain an active program of research, develop and teach courses, mentor students, and contribute service to the school, college, university, and profession that is appropriate for their rank. We are particularly interested in those with research specialization in nurse anesthesia, health equity, and/or adult/gerontology.

Additional duties include administrative responsibilitiesas the Assistant Specialty Director for the Nurse Anesthesia Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program in addition to committee and department assignments, administrative, supervisory, and other functions as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

  • Supervises planning and implementation of class schedules and course content for nurse anesthesia courses.

  • Acts as a liaison for clinical faculty course lecturers and manages a current file of course objectives, examinations, and evaluation of their courses.

  • Provides on campus didactic instruction.

  • Manages arrangements for logistic instructional support with clinical faculty course lecturers.

  • Works collaboratively with the Specialty Director to provide counseling and assessment of remediation needs of students.

  • Communicates all aspects of the conduct of didactic education, including academic status of students to the Specialty Director.

  • Serves as a mentor for research activities for the students and promote student and faculty publication and dissemination of research in scholarly journals or appropriate public forums.

  • Provides guidance in curriculum development, assessment, and revision.

  • Is a member of the Nurse Anesthesia Program Admission Committee; participates in screening and selection of NAR candidates for admission.

  • Collaborates with clinical coordinators to ensure seamless integration of didactic classes with NAR clinical experiences.

  • Serves as a resource to the Strategic Planning Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

P OSITION REQUIREMENTS

A CRNA with at least five years of clinical experience and doctoral degree in Nursing. Academic administrative experience preferred. Teaching experience preferred. Must maintain certification and/or recertification as a CRNA. Recent practice as a CRNA.Formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation andinstruction. Unencumbered New York Registered Nurse License

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience ($90,375- $99,532). Eligible for supplemental and summer salary based on experience and responsibilities.
