Citigroup Assistant Vice President – Residential Securitization & Advisory in New York, New York

Citigroup’s Residential Securitization and Advisory (RSA) team, a unit within Global Spread Products, is seeking to add an Assistant Vice President to its existing team. The broader RSA business provides securitization and advisory services to Citi’s institutional clients and touches securitizations collateralized or referencing agency and non-agency mortgage assets including seasoned performing, re-performing and non-performing loans, new origination prime and near prime loans, HELOC and closed end second mortgages, mortgage servicing rights, mortgage insurance policies, small balance commercial loans and single family rental and I-Buyer assets. Existing clients are well capitalized non-bank originators, hedge funds, private equity funds, servicers, mortgage insurance companies, single family operators and REITs with expertise in originating, aggregating, and/or managing residential mortgage assets and credit risk.

The candidate will join a team of seasoned RMBS capital markets professionals and gain exposure to banking, diligence and structuring functions across RMBS deals. The successful candidate will interact directly with senior leadership at external clients and with internal and external parties, including legal, structuring, trading, diligence and rating agencies. Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead mortgage-backed securitizations for Citigroup, either as an issuer for its own portfolio, or as an underwriter for third-party issuers

  • Advise new issuers on establishing rated and unrated securitization programs and work with recurring issuers to solidify market presence and identify new securitization opportunities

  • Manage transactions from client engagement (as applicable) through settlement and post-settlement, including (but not limited to):

  • Working with issuers (as applicable) and the trading and syndicate desks to identify prospective securitization pools and evaluate deal execution alternatives,

  • Managing the rating agency process in conjunction with mortgage analytics to optimize deal structures,

  • Liaising with servicers, trustees, due diligence providers and accounting firms,

  • Reviewing all relevant disclosure documentation with internal and external counsel,

  • Preparing marketing materials (term sheets, roadshow presentations, offering circulars, etc.),

  • Coordinating the marketing of the transaction with the deal syndicate, and mortgage trading & sales,

  • Ensuring proper settlement and compliance with internal and external requirements

  • Analyze current and historical transactions for securitization market trends, structural features, representation and warranty frameworks and other deal mechanics

  • Prepare securitization pitches and coordinate related business development activities for existing and prospective issuer clients

  • Assist management in obtaining new structure and product approvals

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree; 2 years of minimum securitized products related work experience

  • Expertise in the mortgage and RMBS markets, including various securitization structures and deal process flows is preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions on different timetables, work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated problem-solver, detail-oriented, strong work ethic, resourceful and organized

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

  • Proficient in Intex

  • Superior Microsoft Office skills

  • Series 7, 63 and 79 (to be obtained within a specified timeframe from start date)
