JOCKEY is hiring an Associate Designer to support the design and development of Jockey products! Based at our New York City (Manhattan) design office, you will partner with our design and merchandising teams to design and execute men’s and women’s categories of apparel.   • Interpret conceptual stage to creative stage by translating and drawing detailed proportioned sketches handed off by the lead designer, including specific technical design drawings, fabrics, trims, and accessories to achieve target costs.

  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising members to build and grow men’s and women’s businesses to expand product categories for direct development.

  • Collaborate with various teams for categories (e.g. women’s and men’s underwear, sleep, and socks) to optimize brand alignment.

  • Responsible for flat sketching in Adobe Illustrator.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of design collection Line Sheets/CADS.

  • Assist in setting up Initial Proto Tech Packs.

  • Work in PLM system throughout design process and responsible for BOM.

  • Attend fittings and assist where necessary.

  • Collaborate with Technical Design and Senior Designer/Design Director to send garment and workmanship comments on fit samples.

  • Communicate with factory team members daily. Organize and prepare packages for the factory and/or business unit (i.e., merchandising team).

  • Work on print colorways before prints are finalized and put into repeat.

  • Research domestic market to identify new assortment opportunities and merchandise trends.

  • Assist in composing seasonal color palettes for business unit/merchants and general team.

  • Participate in weekly meetings with both men’s and women’s teams to gain understanding of each business and its priorities. Prepare working tools for meetings.

  • Assist, organize, and maintain proto to production samples.

    Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or a related field required.

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of apparel design experience, preferably intimates, with strong knowledge of fabrics and trims and a solid understanding of the design process.

  • Strong flat sketching skills in Adobe Illustrator and experience recoloring prints in Photoshop.

  • Proven creative and innovative design ability with a strong color sense.

  • Solid understanding of product construction (e.g., finishes, fabrics, hardware, stitches, and safety requirements).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in MS-Excel. Solid working experience with MS-Office.

  • Some experience working in a PLM system a plus (preferably NGC PLM).


The individual in this position must be energetic and a creative thinker. This person is expected to be an assertive and confident member of the design team. This individual should be able to work extended hours as needed to meet goals and deadlines. Occasional travel may be required.
