NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Associate Director, NYU Metro Center College Prep Academy in New York, New York

NYU Metro Center College Prep Academy (NYU CPA) is a supplemental college-preparatory program serving roughly 300 high school students, Grades 9-12, who come from predominately low-income and minority communities across New York City. The Academy offers unique access to a top-tier university campus; high caliber academic enrichment; mentoring and tutoring from NYU Masters students and teachers in training; as well as vital support programming to nurture students' social and emotional well-being. CPA also offers extensive programming to support students and their families around the college application and financial aid process. The Academy runs every Saturday throughout the school year (September through June), and during an intensive, four-week Summer Session (July-August). Housed at the NYU Steinhardt School's Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools.

As a result of this whole-child approach, the program's success metrics are impressive: In each of the last three years, close to 80% of CPA's students successfully raised their Regents Exams scores (with most meeting or exceeding the exams' "college readiness scores" for English and Mathematics), and close to 100% of seniors who attended CPA successfully graduated high school and matriculated to a strong-match college. Primarily, the Associate Director position we are looking to fill requires a passion for working with and a strong commitment to supporting the achievements of underserved youth and young adults.

The Associate Director will work closely with the CPA's current Directora thirty-three year veteran of the program—and will report to both the CPA's Director and the Metro Center's

Executive Director, Serving in a leadership capacity, the Associate Director will also be expected to help manage and work collaboratively with a diverse team of consultants, professional counselors, instructors, faculty, and support staff including fieldwork students and a significant number of volunteers,

The candidate must possess a minimum of three to five years of prior experience in a similar position planning and implementing an interdisciplinary college access/success service model for a diverse group of youth clients and their families. The candidate must also be a highly organized, highly motivated, and have prior experience and success in fundraising development.

As a member of the CPA team, the Associate Director will be expected to devote roughly 25% of his/her time to managing and supporting the provision and documentation of day-to-day services, including family engagement, instructional supports, college planning, and social/emotional learning activities for participants, Program services and activities for students are primarily conducted on Saturdays, school holidays, and some evenings during the school year and for five-to-six weeks during the summer.

A core responsibility of the Associate Director (occupying roughly 60% of his/her time) will be devoted to expanding and diversifying program funding opportunities to support and expand CPA programming, resources, and services for students that will positively impact their successful transition to postsecondary education. Part of this fundraising will also serve to sustain the Associate Director's position (currently supported for the next 2.5 years through a generous grant from the Meringoff Family Foundation), As such, the position will require demonstrated experience in developing funding opportunities through outreach and cultivation of foundations as well as corporate, governmental, and other funding sources through proposal development and solicitations. The candidate must possess strong demonstrated writing and communication skills, and will be expected to expand the program's funding streams in conjunction with the NYU Office of University Development and Alumni Relations.

Finally, the candidate should possess strong demonstrated skills in the development of best practices for data procurement, analysis, and reporting (roughly 15% of the candidate's time).

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Project Director and other CPA team members in program development, operations, and the planning, and implementation of direct program services related to college planning, professional internship opportunities, academic services, and social-emotional programming for youth participants and their families. Develop a strategic plan for expanding and diversifying CPA's funding sources and fundraising capacity over the next three-to-five years, with clear financial goals. Cultivate, manage, and expand relationships with diverse funding partners and program collaborators to enhance program funding and capacity. Assist project staff in developing strategies and effective mechanisms for data procurement, development of best practices, dissemination of information, analysis of data, and reporting requirements, Develop systems for quality improvement including ensuring fidelity of program implementation through grant management of project deliverables.
