NYU Langone Health System Associate Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, NYU LANGONE HEALTH in New York, New York
The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Team is seeking a highly committed, energetic, and organized faculty member to join the Division of Undergraduate Medical Education in the 2022-2023 Academic Year. The department's division of UME plays a vital role in the development of medical students and future physicians, including Emergency Medicine physicians. We have the unique opportunity to make a positive and enduring impact on medical students, and often serve as the "face" of our specialty to students and the institution.
The associate director will work with team members (two Co-Directors and Program Administrator) and liaise with PEM UME Director to develop, design, and implement all components of the medical education program using internal course learning objectives and NYUGSOM adopted Program Learning Objectives. The responsibilities of this position will include clerkship administration, curricular development, teaching, mentoring, and student advising.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, personable, proactive, and able to work with the other team members. We are a small and tightly-knit team that welcomes enthusiasm, organization, and adaptability in order to continue to run our highly successful medical student rotations along with a multitude of other student programming including, but not limited to: the Underrepresented Students in Medicine Summer Fellowship, Emergency Medicine Interest Group, and individual EM-bound student advising. The position will come with dedicated time commensurate to educational responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
(Please note these are joint responsibilties for the team, and do not represent an inculsive list)
Emergency Medicine Selective (monthly)
Teach and continually update/revise content:
Monthly orientation sessions
EKG, wound repair and orthopedic workshop
How to think like an EM doc SIM orientation session
ACS and Trauma high fidelity SIM sessions
Case-based learning lectures
Precept final case presentations
Create, distribute, evaluate final exam
Administer PRIMES mid-clerkship feedback session with each student
Help with student final assessments (review shift feedback, exam, professionalism) - to be reviewed in accordance with core EPAs
Coordinate PEP and virtual discharge programming
EM Advanced Elective - May through October
Review and accept VSLO applications on a rolling basis
Hands-on teaching for case based didactic sessions, SIM sessions - content to be continually updated and refreshed
Help coordinate meet and greets for students with faculty leaders and residents
Help coordinate URM stipend application logistics
Write Standard Letters of Evaluation (SLOEs) for each student after collating all shift mentor and preceptor feedback
Help maintain communication with students (with the GME division) throughout the residency application process to aid in recruitment efforts
NYUGSOM Students
Recruit and introduce preclinical students to Emergency Medicine: career night, info/ recruiting sessions, town halls, 1:1 meetings
Continue to help update EM chapter in OME career advising iBook
Advise students in EM scholarly concentrations
Mentor EM-bound NYUGSOM students:
1:1 meetings throughout MS3 and MS4 years
Application and rank list advising
PS and CV review, interview practice
Faculty advisor for Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) - help plan, budget and facilitate monthly didactic sessions
Summer Fellowships (URM and NYU)
Advertise, recruit for fellowship, review applications for 10 fellowship spots
Organize administrative logistics, budget, venue reservations, Grand Rounds speaker, Epic access
Create robust month-long curriculum including shadow shifts, toxicology, wilderness medicine, climate medicine, NYC events
Recruit resident directors and mentors
Office of Medical Education and NYUGSOM
Continue to interface with the institution and Medical School through participation in clerkship director's meetings, task forces, ICI teaching, communication with deans.
Graduate Medical Education
Mentor residents for projects, publications (e.g. EMRA Trauma Guide, CORD presentations)
Direct EM UME senior chiefs in UME activities
Candidate must be Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine
Ideal candidate will be a seasoned emergency medicine educatorand a proven track record of educational accomplishments in an academic medical center.
Ability to create curriculum and build collaborative relationships across the hospital system is strongly desired.
Additional formal training and experience with program development, scholarly activities, educational leadership experienceis desired
