Macmillan Associate Publicist, FSG in New York, New York
Farrar, Straus and Giroux is seeking an energetic, dedicated and creative Associate Publicist. Reporting to two Associate Directors of Publicity, this individual will be a key team member helping to create and execute publicity campaigns across a variety of genres, both in partnership with senior members of the staff and independently, as well as providing some support for the Associate Directors.
What you'll do:
Work both collaboratively and independently to support and create original and compelling publicity campaigns
Plan and execute promotional campaigns as lead publicist for multiple frontlist titles per season
Partner with Associate Directors on major frontlist campaigns, and provide support in some day-to-day duties
Plan, manage, and/or provide support for multi-city virtual and in-person book tours and author appearances, including coordinating logistics, arranging travel and creating tour schedules
Write press communications including engaging press releases, and creative and thoughtful pitches
Research, pitch, and secure national, local, and specialty media, including print, radio, television, podcast and online outlets
Help monitor the general publicity email inbox, execute mailings, and fulfill some review copy requests
Help to process some monthly departmental expenses
Collaborate with FSG’s authors, editors, sales, and marketing teams
What you'll bring:
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work both collaboratively and independently
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
A keen interest in book publishing, publicity, and the media landscape
Some demonstrated media booking and author tour management skills
1.5+ years of professional publicity experience and a working knowledge of book publishing
Experience working independently on own projects
