Related Partners Associate, Related Fund Management in New York, New York

The Multifamily Preferred Equity Associate will focus on all aspects of origination, underwriting, asset management, and investor reporting for RFM’s Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. This position will be based in New York and will report to the head of the Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial analysis, including building detailed financial models in excel to perform valuation and return sensitivity analysis across various multifamily preferred equity and mezzanine debt opportunities.

  • Assist with the origination, underwriting, and due diligence process for new investments, including:

  • Market analysis – Evaluation of market fundamentals to assess supply and demand characteristics

  • Comparable analysis – Collection and evaluation of rent and sales comparables

  • Third party diligence – Managing process of obtaining information from third party consultants (physical, environmental, insurance, etc.)

  • Authoring comprehensive investment committee memos outlining investment rationale, deal returns, and key execution risks.

  • Asset managing and reporting on the existing portfolio, which includes closely working with third-party vendors and monthly performance tracking of assets and the overall portfolio.

  • Regular prospecting and due diligence trips to source, underwrite and monitor new and existing investments throughout the United States.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in real estate, investment banking, or finance.

  • Understanding of real estate credit and the multifamily lending landscape.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills are required.

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional time management and prioritization are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced environment where the /Associate will be required to manage multiple projects with significant responsibilities and competing priorities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (finance, real estate, or economics focus). Master’s Degree preferred.
