The INCITE Institute invites applications for an Associate Research Scholar who will act as the Associate Director of the Trust Collaboratory (TC). TC is one of the nation's first research centers exploring the social dynamics of trust through interdisciplinary, collaborative, and publicly engaged formats in the fields of technology and AI, public health and medical science, and media and journalism. Reporting to the Director of the TC, Professor Gil Eyal, the Associate Director will develop and execute the center's research agenda and support public events, workshops, exhibitions, and student fellowships as well as internships that create engagement between academia, non-profits, government representatives, private foundations, and the broader public.
In addition to supporting existing lines of research on trust and managing collaborative research projects with national and international partners, the position involves administrative responsibilities with respect to the organization, planning, and development of the center, including grant writing, budgeting, and reporting. The successful candidate is expected to manage existing partnerships with Columbia's Engineering School and the center's collaborations with non-profit, government, and private partners in the field of public health and medical science. In addition, the Associate Director will run the TC's summer school for high-school students and manage the training and development of a team of interns, research assistants, graduate students, affiliated faculty, and staff associates.
Ph.D. in the Humanities deposited by the time of appointment. Excellent writing and communication skills. Research experience in the field of trust. At least 2 years of prior experience managing academic teams and coordinating research grants, proposals, and budgets. Demonstrated experience in leading public engagement activities in academic and non-academic settings as well as interdisciplinary collaborations between the humanities, the social sciences, and the fields of engineering, data science, and public health. Experience developing and managing multisector partnerships with non-profits, government agencies, and private foundations. Track record in creating and implementing curricula for K-12 training formats. Ability to design websites, public reports, and branding assets.
