HarperCollins Publishers Associate Sales Representative in New York, New York

Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an Associate Sales Representative, Educational Wholesale for the Educational Sales team within the Special Markets department. The Educational Sales team sells all HarperCollins titles to K-12 educational accounts, including wholesalers and curriculum publishers.

This role requires a highly motivated individual to maintain strong account relationships, pursue new sales opportunities, and support the collective efforts of the Educational Sales Team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with assigned accounts through regular meetings and contact, traveling to visit accounts in person as needed and agreed upon with supervisor.

  • Present new titles on a seasonal basis, conducting a mix of in-person and virtual meetings with assigned accounts.

  • Liaise extensively with a variety of departments, including Inventory, Production, Customer Service, Warehouse Management, and Transportation to successfully manage orders and accounts.

  • Respond to account inquiries regarding title information and availability, ensuring accounts have needed information and materials to support their collection development needs.

  • Assist educational sales staff with preparation for account meetings such as slide presentations and printed materials.

  • Assist with sales reporting as needed, both for accounts or for internal use.

  • Provide occasional coverage for educational sales team members who are out of office.

  • Prepare for and attend internal sales meetings and launches, virtually or in person as agreed upon with supervisor.

  • Some travel to visit accounts and attend trade shows as agreed upon with supervisor.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience

  • 1 year of relevant experience either in book industry or sales

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to set priorities under pressure

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and well-organized

  • Solid computer skills including advanced command of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel to trade shows and sales meetings as required
