Your Mission:

Medidata is looking for a seasoned Systems Administrator that has a passion for technology to be a part of the Corporate Infrastructure Engineering Team.   • Provide level III support, prioritizing and executing assigned tasks

  • Serve as first escalation point to the Corporate Systems Engineering team

  • Be the primary lead for desktop support, configuring and maintaining our image deployment infrastructure and ensure that our ES Operations team standardize all workstation imaging

  • Assist in the installing, configuring, and maintaining the reliable operation of our Corporate servers, Storage, and Virtualization infrastructure

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, Cloud Compute, and SaaS based applications or escalate to Senior Systems Engineers

  • Create standards, operational runbooks, participate in projects, and work closely with Senior Systems Engineers to help design and engineer overall infrastructure and technology

  • Proactively seek out the latest industry trends, best practices, assess and suggest updates/upgrades to infrastructure

  • Assist in POC’s, Vendor engagement and product selection

  • Work directly with vendor contacts to resolve technical problems affecting the delivery of ES services and/or up-time related to software/application solutions, Servers, SAN technology, storage, and peripheral equipment

  • Monitor, Identify & troubleshoot server configuration and/or performance irregularities. Assist in developing policies and procedures to respond to these irregularities in an efficient manner

  • Develop and test scripts to automate routine tasks

  • Effectively participate and provide 24 x 7 production support on a rotating basis or when called upon

  • “Follow the Sun Support” for global data centers, branch offices and Medidata global user community

  • 5 - 10% travel may be required in order to support global data centers and branch offices

Your Competencies:

  • Must have strong knowledge in infrastructures which support the workstation OS image builds and deployments, e.g. Ivanti Endpoint Management, Microsoft SCCM, and MacOS DEP solutions, e.g. JAMF

  • Automated software distribution (e.g. Ivanti Endpoint Manager, SCCM, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge working with systems infrastructure hardware, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and monitoring

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server 2008-2019

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux systems

  • Active Directory Administration and Support

  • Experience working with Active Directory Group Policy Objects

  • Implementation and Configuration of DHCP/DNS

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office 365 Suite implementations and administration

  • Google Suite of Apps, Google e-mail, Google Drive etc..

  • Familiar with SAML based SSO products solutions like OKTA, Ping or ADFS

  • Experience working with VMWare VCenter/ESXi infrastructure

  • Disaster Recovery best practices

  • Server/System/Application monitoring (Nagios, Solarwinds, etc.)

  • Understanding SaaS Applications/Technologies

  • Familiarity of Cloud Compute technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Security patch management (e.g. Windows Patch Management Server, SCCM)

  • Backup tools, and server recovery (e.g. Backup Exec, or NetBackup)

  • Familiarity with antivirus software (Trend, McAfee)

  • Ability to script and automate solutions using PowerShell, Python or equivalent

  • Product/platform evaluation, and recommendation

  • Fundamental understanding of mail flow and troubleshooting NDRs and mail delays

  • File transfer methods - knowing of /how to use ftp, sftp, scp

  • High-level understanding of networks and subnetting

  • Various RAID technologies and differences


  • Basic Understanding of Storage Technologies like EMC, NetApp, Nimble, Hitachi etc

  • Microsoft SQL Server and Database

  • Microsoft Windows Clustering

  • Apple/Mac technologies

​​Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills * including interpersonal / customer service skills

  • Experience in the design, implementation and managing of complex infrastructure solutions
