The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs and Finance (DAAF), with a dotted line relationship with the Faculty Director of the MA in Statistics Program, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement manages daily communication, events, webinar, student representatives and all other channels of student engagement in the MA in Statistics program. In this role, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement works closely with the MA Program's faculty director and other assistant directors of the MA program, faculty advisors, student representatives, and department administrators, provides perspective, incoming, and current students timely information on admission, program timeline, registration policies, career resources, network opportunities, and etc., and delivers exciting and rewarding experiences for our students. In particular, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement will also work closely with the Career Development Officer of the MA programs to organize recruitment efforts, and with the Academic Affairs officer on planning and implementing recruitment efforts, running program information sessions, and providing administrative support during the admissions process.
Responsibilities
Maintains an up-to-date list of registered MA Students, Student Representatives, Faculty Advisers, BA/MA students, and Graduates.
Maintains the electronic folders for MA Students on the J Drive.
Supports Admissions:
Runs regular queries to keep up-to-date lists of applicants and incoming students.
Downloads files for electronic folders in June.
Sends communications to applicants and incoming students.
Supports scholarship awards and communications.
Provides communications for summer engagement with incoming students.
Provides the Registration Review for incoming students.
Provides important information about registration and important deadlines for MA Students.
Maintains the MA program's main email address and responds to student inquiries, with inputs from the department chair, faculty directors, other assistant directors, DAAF and other administrators, and relevant university offices such as GSAS and ISSO.
Maintains an informative and accurate MA Programs website.
Organizes and runs MA Program newsletters for different student cohorts (including incoming students), with important reminders and updates.
Selects, connects with, and mentors Student Representatives.
Plans lunches and meets monthly with Student Representatives.
Organizes events such as "pizza lunch with student reps," "meet a faculty," and "Alum spotlight" throughout the year, including summer.
Helps with the organization of orientation social, annual holiday party, alum dinner, and graduation party.
Organizes a calendar of student engagements that enables effective communication, mentoring, and feedback mechanisms through student reps and graduation surveys.
Represents the students' perspectives at MA LT meeting and creates a more inclusive culture for all students.
Performs other duties relating to the MA programs deemed essential by the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and/or Equivalent Related Experience Required
