Audio Operator for CBS News broadcasts and Special Reports and/or CBSN. Setup and operate audio console to mix audio for broadcasts. Check and make adjustments for proper audio levels and other attributes for real-time performance enhancement. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve audio problems. Understanding of audio signal flow and ability to patch and route signals as needed.
Understanding of intercom system setup and operation. Familiarity with AZ Edit software to program and/or modify intercom setup. Give guidance to production and studio personnel on proper operation of intercom facilities. Familiarity with mixing and sound reinforcement techniques for studio recording of bands. Understanding and ability to mix 5.1 audio. Understanding of operation of RF microphones and communications.
Some familiarity with networking and computer applications are a plus. Work closely with Technical Manager and Director to address audio and communications issues. Learn the technical systems and workflow for the control rooms and studios and ensure that systems work properly. Work with managers and engineering staff on capital project installations, checking proof of performance of new equipment and systems operationally. Works with Maintenance to troubleshoot and test equipment and systems. This position is in the NY Broadcast Center and is covered by the IBEW Local 1212 union.
Education: College graduate with a BA or BS degree or degree in Television production.
Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience as an Audio Operator preferred. Live and taped broadcast experience, knowledge of digital audio consoles and device operation and theory. Understanding of digital audio signal flow. Knowledge of ProTools is a plus.
