Citigroup Banking & Treasury Management Advisory Services Head in New York, New York

The Citi Private Bank (CPB) Banking & Treasury Management Sales team is a well-established group of seasoned professionals across the Americas that advises, consults with and delivers core banking & treasury management solutions to Private Bank Clients. The Banking & Treasury Management Advisory team supports the Banking & treasury Sales effort by partnering to curate, develop and deliver strategic and relevant advisory content in the form of benchmarking, best practices, thought leadership, and white papers etc. This content monetizes our acquired intellectual property and industry knowledge into value for our clients and innovative benchmarking tools that provide unique insights and serve to elevate engagement with clients’ treasury and finance organizations. As the lead CPB Banking & Treasury Management Advisory Head, you will lead the advisory team and work closely with the National Sales Head to set the strategic direction of the Private Bank Treasury Management Business. This entails developing and providing thoughtful, innovative and relative banking & treasury management advisory content for our business clients. These efforts will enhance sales specialist expertise, help deepen existing client relationships, assist with business development and further strengthen CPB as a trusted advisor to our clients. This will be a visible and important role within the team reporting to the Treasury Management Sales Head with close interaction taking place both internally across the organization as well as with key CPB clients.

The successful candidate must have experience and knowledge across treasury management, general business banking & deposit product solutions, marketing and business development.

The Advisory Head has a pulse on the market and strong understanding of the industry and direct competitors' products and services. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. External communication with high profile Private Bank Clients is a key component of the role. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and execution. People management responsibility includes performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership to the legal industry via publications of research, analysis, and survey findings, and speaking engagements.

  • Be an integral part of the production of tailored comparative presentations throughout the year to various CPB segments

  • Interface with clients to administer and collect treasury management surveys

  • Maintain and mine databases of survey results

  • Monitor Current and Emerging Industry Trends in Banking & Treasury Management

  • Strategic Idea Generation

  • Development of Sales & Industry Best practices (Treasury Management, Business Banking etc.)

  • High level of focus on Peer to Peer Segment Focused treasury management benchmarking and analytics across key segments

  • Support other quantitative, value driven analysis and content creation in our advisory offerings to clients

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering on large data sets provided by all participating firms, stitch together findings and information across different data sets into simplified client value propositions.

  • Enhance and automate benchmarking reporting process to achieve greater efficiency and drive towards further expansion in other target business segments

  • Architecting & Publishing White Papers, Thought Leadership, Internal / External blogs etc.

  • Enhancing existing and creation of targeted marketing material

  • Engaging with C-Suite Treasury Executives to conduct client interviews / surveys

  • Provide timely market intel to Product Management including; client feedback, product gaps, industry & competitive landscape

  • Identification of potential new business banking treasury management target segments

  • Uncover Existing Client Deepening & Value Creation Opportunities

  • Close collaboration with Banking Sales, Product, Marketing, Private Banker Teams, Business Managers, Commercial and Corporate Bank Partners.

  • Maintain project plan to track deliverables related to benchmarking and other advisory projects

  • Representation at internal/external client conferences

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience

  • Past work in Sales and client facing role in Private Banking, Commercial Banking

  • Strong Consultative, Advisory, Leadership, & Analytical skills

  • Pro-active, Highly Motivated, Detail Oriented

  • Strong Communication, Written, Listening skills

  • Ability to clearly understand & articulate client needs & strategy into key requirements & actionable solutions

  • Demonstrated understanding across treasury management, corporate or private or commercial banking, marketing, product management, advisory, business development

  • Knowledge of Treasury Management solutions, key ERP systems & sales life cycle

  • Treasury Management Experience with Law Firms, Private Equity, Real Estate & Family Offices (a plus)

  • Proficiency and aptitude in utilizing MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Education:

  • Bachelor's & Master's degree required

  • CTP Certification a strong plus
