CBS News SUNDAY MORNING is seeking an experienced Social Media Broadcast Associate (BA) to join our fast-paced digital media social team.

We're looking for a candidate with a strong editorial and social media background to help manage daily content publication on social platforms, discover trending content on social media, create original digital stories (both in text and video form). This candidate must be able to create strong editorial content that will engage audiences on these platforms.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the best practices of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, as demonstrated by his or her active social media profiles. S/he must understand the most current and changing content strategies and marketing techniques utilized by these platforms. S/he must have experience covering breaking news. S/he must be able and willing to work newsroom hours, which include nights, weekends and holidays.

The duties of the Social Media BA will include, but will not be limited to:

Find and edit original stories for Sunday Morning social platforms

Create shareable videos and graphics

Optimize article share language from for better performance on social

Produce social content consistent with the Sunday Morning brand


Candidate qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of social media experience in a news environment

  • Experience working in a digital Newsroom

  • Strong social media skills with demonstrated portfolio of work

  • Team player who is able to work with a diverse group of people

  • Deep familiarity with social media audiences, best practices and analytics

  • Experienced user level with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat

  • Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work

  • Graphic design and video editing experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines

  • Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Degree in journalism, communications or related

Required Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of social media experience for a news organization

  • Must be able to provide work samples for review

  • Expert on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram

  • Strong writing, grammar and AP style background

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays

  • Have a degree in journalism, communications or related

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graphic design and video editing experience strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
