Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in shelter as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, after-school clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family. ABOUT THIS ROLE

Our Operations Team is looking for an intern interested in learning about and engaging in the behind-the-scenes work necessary for the functioning of a large nonprofit, in particular with in building operations and a management team. We’re looking for students working on a degree in engineering , liberal arts, law, public administration, or security management. Our ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to help New York’s most underserved families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Building Ops Team to manage four transitional housing facilities and two other buildings, including supporting building operations teams at each site

  • Assist Building Ops team in maintaining shared drive and all necessary filing documents, proposals, trackers and plans

  • Assist with coordinating facility management projects

  • Assist in compiling documents for violation removal

  • Support general office operations and administration

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a student enrolled in a relevant program for the duration of the internship

  • Able to commit to at least 14 hours per week for the summer of 20 21 .
