Axis Business Development Lead – Small Specialty Commercial in New York, New York

Our team, Small Specialty Commercial, has built a digital insurance product to meet the insurance needs of today’s home-based business customer. The individual in this role will be a key player in leading our efforts to promote this product in the market by working with our distribution partners to expand our business. Outstanding communication and negotiation skills are required to build and maintain these relationships. Responsibilities include:

  • Drive business development through external visibility and marketing, active prospecting of potential partners, new products (up-selling, cross-selling, bundled offers) and new channels.

  • Elaborate associated marketing and distribution strategies to transform prospects into new business.

  • Create networking opportunities and targeted visibility (including social media and modern selling) to drive prospecting aligned with the strategy of the business.

  • Lead our efforts to grow our Small Digital Insurance business with multiple distribution partners.

  • Grow our portfolio of accounts in the digital home-based business insurance market and to ensure value is being delivered to the home-based business owner.

  • Develop a deep understanding our market leading product and the needs of our current and potential partners to ensure we are delivering as promised.

  • Drive reporting and analytics that help make informed business decisions.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders in distribution, marketing, and legal to execute deals and find creative opportunities to expand our business.

Skills & Requirements

  • 8+ years of business development experience preferably in the Small Specialty or P&C Insurance space.

  • Excellent understanding of the Insurtech and digital insurance landscape.

  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Good communication also requires talking through problems that arise and working with others in stressful situations.

  • Highly self-motivated, excellent at follow-up, team-player that delivers within defined timelines.

  • Organized, creative, responsive problem-solver who thinks through all the possible outcomes before moving forward.
