Business Unit/Role Specific Info
American Express’ Global Commercial Services (GCS) business offers a wide range of card and payment programs, expense management tools, consulting services, business financing and cross-border payments solutions to small businesses, mid-sized companies and large corporations around the world.
We’re seeking (2) graduate students for a summer internship within GCS’ Strategy & Transformation teams, either in SME (Small & Medium Enterprises) organization or G&L (Global & Large Enterprises) organization . The chosen candidates will be responsible to own and influence a strategic project from end-to-end tied to our long-term growth ambitions for the Client Management and sales organizations. Our Strategy & Transformation teams at American Express play a central role in identifying client and colleague needs, defining winning strategies, and influencing partners to complete these goals. The team works to cultivate collaboration and alignment across many cross functional partner teams to deliver on our collective ambitions.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Work directly with Senior leaders and other collaborators to define strategic priorities and articulate the operating plan required to reach the objectives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Client Management / Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, Technology, Pricing, Legal, Compliance and other collaborators.
Assess business needs based on customer experiences or colleague experiences.
Derive insights from the customer landscape and colleague feedback.
Synthesize analytics and financials to develop data-driven recommendations.
Document and maintain project plan, project processes and communications, including strategic prioritization.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a full-time Graduate degree program (MBA preferred)
Students must have a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.
1-3 years of previous full-time work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated interest and experience in commercial payments, strategic planning, and project management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to distill complex concepts or problems.
Intellectual curiosity and desire to continually learn about the changing payments landscape and emerging technologies.
Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with leaders, colleagues in different time zones, and cross-functional partners to deliver value.
Strong project management skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely and comfort addressing executive audiences.
Demonstrated resilience, proactive problem solving, ‘can do’ attitude, and optimism in changing circumstances.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize within changing business needs, navigating both planned and urgent needs while working independently.
Comfort with challenging the status quo and driving continuous process improvement.
Proficiency in analytical and presentation tools, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications
Salary Range: $38.45 to $87.00 hourly sign-on bonus
