JPMorgan Chase CB Principal Digital Design Researcher (New York or Palo Alto) in New York, New York

Help us on our mission to create best in class digital experiences in the Commercial Bank at JPMorgan Chase.

We are looking for a creative, resourceful and seasoned UX Researcher with strong human-centric research skills to join our Commercial Bank Digital Experience Design team.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in qualitative research and usability, plus a breadth of experience across generative, formative, evaluative and quantitative research. You are a self-starter, comfortable working with ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ever-evolving environment.

You will be responsible for scoping and crafting research strategy, designing and conducting research, facilitating Design Thinking workshops, bridging research into design work and delivering actionable insights for a variety of digital projects. You will work closely with designers, product managers, technical leaders, senior business executives, and clients to transform end-to-end customer experiences

Location - Onsite New York, NY or Palo Alto, CA - Hybrid/Flexible Work Arrangements

We have started coming back into the office on a hybrid basis (though flexible!) with the candidate expected to be based in either NYC or Palo Alto. Note: is not a fully remote role.

Key Responsibilities: - This is an individual contributor design role

  • Frame and prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, customer-centric culture that moves rapidly through the ideation, concepting, and development of new solutions

  • Develop ambitious yet realistic research plans that meet the objectives of project stakeholders while centering on uncovering the goals and needs of the end-users

  • Lead strategic customer research in close collaboration with designers, product managers, technology leaders, and business stakeholders on time and within budget

  • Synthesize research findings and create relevant, revealing, and inspiring artifacts (personas, journey maps, storyboards, presentations, etc.)

  • Share knowledge with project teams through engaging methods of storytelling (audio, video, visual design, writing, etc.)

  • Translate and bridge research to tangible design opportunities. Deliver design recommendations with consideration for diverse stakeholders

  • Design and facilitate engaging, outcome-focused workshops and co-creative sessions (e.g. for user research, brainstorming, concepting) leveraging design thinking methodology and best practices, both for end-users and project stakeholders

  • Advocate, educate and enable internally and externally across the firm on Design Research and Design Thinking best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum +5 years of relevant professional industry (non-academic/internship) experience in UX Research, User Research, Design Research or related field

  • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant experience and process

  • Experience in planning and conducting different types of research activities including stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, usability studies, and other research activities

  • Deep understanding of the Design Thinking methodology, both as a practitioner and educator with experience in planning and facilitating co-creation workshops for discovery activities and validation of design work

  • Ability to communicate and document research findings through artifacts, documentations, and presentations to diverse audiences (e.g. executives, business and development partners, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Design Research, Interaction Design, User Experience (UX) Design, Service Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, or related fields

  • Understanding of UX design principles and ability to bridge experiences and touchpoints within a digital and product design context

  • Familiarity with research tools (e.g. UserTesting, dScout, UserZoom, etc.)

  • Familiarity with deign, prototyping, and presentation software (e.g. Figma, Adobe Suite, InVision, and Keynote)

  • Ability to concept and create prototypes (even in lo-fidelity) to learn and improve your ideas

  • Knowledge/past experiences in financial services

The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer. It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level.
