MuleSoft is hiring motivated Solutions Engineers (SEs) to join our talented Pre-Sales SE team. This team is instrumental to MuleSoft’s continuing growth and market leadership. The Healthcare SE team focuses on one of the most exciting, human-centric and fast-changing areas of the business, designing innovative and transformative solutions within health payers and providers.

The Healthcare Solution Engineer

Within healthcare our SE team is transforming patient and provider businesses across a range of areas. We’re designing vaccination management platforms for COVID-19 and beyond, re-imagining how to meet data interoperability while creating sustainable business value, driving next-generation enterprise data and API strategies to monetize ML/AI investments, and guiding technology teams to new operational models that support data transparency, governance and agility. Now is an unprecedented time for change in healthcare, and MuleSoft SEs are at the heart of the business strategies and technology design efforts.

SEs are trusted advisors to prospects and customers, discovering and aligning desired business and clinical outcomes with technology solutions. MuleSoft’s sales team and customers rely on an SEs technical, product, industry and business expertise throughout the sales and solutioning lifecycle. Customer-centric responsibilities include technical discovery, opportunity qualification, solution strategy and design, architectural recommendation, product demonstration and/or PoC, and technical troubleshooting during sales activities.

Healthcare SEs also have - or build - expertise in critical healthcare-specific technologies and industry requirements, and as a result play a big role in educating customers, partners and our internal teams. Close relationships with customer requirements also make SEs key advisors to the MuleSoft marketing, product management and engineering teams. We also work closely with other Salesforce business units including Tableau and Slack!

New to pre-sales? These are the core skills you'll need to be successful:

  • Hands-on scripting or SOAP/REST development, or application development experience in Java or C#, either in an enterprise or academic environment

  • Excellent presentation abilities and composure in front of all levels of technical and business audiences

  • Excellent verbal, written and collaboration skills

  • Motivation to learn continuously and be an expert in technology, business and industry topics

  • Passion for healthcare and positively impacting the people and companies we serve

  • Ability to travel (as needed) and work flexible hours throughout the sales territory

Seasoned pre-sales professional? In addition to the skills above, you'll also need these to be successful:

  • Min of 8-10 years of experience in enterprise pre-sales

  • Specific healthcare industry experience is a big plus; depth in payer and/or provider businesses and technology requirements, standards (e.g. FHIR, HL7, etc.), challenges, etc.

  • Interpersonal skills and credibility: ability to establish trust and influence clients and key decision makers

  • Ability to lead solutioning and architectural discussions, both for new and expansion projects

  • Hands on experience with middleware, integration patterns, web services technologies, enterprise messaging patterns, APIs, SOA, ESB, BPM, etc.

  • Hands-on development experience; ability to code and debug against Java / C# APIs is preferred

  • Experience with cloud technologies and concepts: iPaaS, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, etc.

  • Experience independently building and delivering presentations, technical PoCs and customer RFIs/RFPs

  • Become a Certified MuleSoft Developer!

  • Complete MuleSoft’s Kickstart sales training

  • Build integration architecture and whiteboarding skills through shadowing and customer-scenario role playing

  • Build a credible point of view on how API Strategy creates value in healthcare, for both payers and providers

  • Become a productive, contributing member of the best SE organization in the world!

12 months:

  • Become certified in all product, architecture, and sales messaging trainings

  • Partner with account executives on strategic account planning, sales process, technical education and validation

  • Partner with functional teams and account executives on industry marketing and evangelism activities (writing blogs, participating in demo-driven webinars, speaking at industry events, etc.)

  • Scope, plan and deliver tailored product presentations, demonstrations and futures roadmaps

  • Develop proofs-of-concept (PoCs) as part of an account team to demonstrate the art of the possible

  • Put all the pieces together to “perfect your craft” by closing new business and setting customers on a path to success

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of MuleSoft products by making technical contributions and by providing feedback from the field to product marketing and engineering

  • Establish your brand as an integration technologist and healthcare industry expert
