The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area Community Engagement Assistant (Temporary Position) in New York, New York

Overview

The Community Engagement Assistant provides administrative support to the Director of Community Engagement while additionally working on special projects with the Director of Community Engagement as assigned. This position is a seasonal position and will be partially remote with some days required in-person in Bloomingdale, NJ. Must have valid Driver’s License as well as a reliable vehicle for transportation purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide email and phone support to the Director of Community Engagement and other team members as needed.

  • Respond to Christmas assistance inquiries.

  • Assist in coordinating toy distribution to the corps and social services programs.

  • Request information from the field as needed.

  • Data entry to Excel, Word, and Salesforce as needed.

  • Make Angel Tags using Word mail merge platform.

  • Coordinate printing projects with Central Services.

  • Assist in sorting and distributing donated toys at Star Lake Camp.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and efficiently.

  • Strong attention to details and project management skills.

  • Able to lift 50+ pounds

  • Passion for the mission of The Salvation Army and the services provided to the community.

  • Works well independently as well as with a team.

  • Professional demeanor on the phone and in emails with volunteers, teammates, and donors.
