EY Compensation Specialist, Sr Associate in New York, New York

You will provide support for the development and administration of compensation programs and systems. In addition, will be responsible for a broad range of activities with emphasis on managing salary survey participation, evaluating, and leveling jobs, consulting on job description development and manage job description system. You’ll provide in-depth compensation data analyzes and develop insightful data reports for daily activities, discrete projects, and salary planning.
Your key responsibilities
You will aid with job evaluations by working with compensation team and talent consultants to review new or changed job descriptions. In addition, identify salary survey matches to external market data using survey software and recommend appropriate salary band. Provide salary increase recommendations to field Talent team for promotions, transfers, and related job changes by applying guidance. Provide insights to support the business and to make pay decisions in situations that are outside of guidance.
You will assist in modeling and analytic for the annual compensation process in support of more senior members of the team. You will support the field by addressing and researching questions and consult with managers and talent team on the development of job description and job summaries to provide required information for job evaluations and present jobs clearly and succinctly.
You will maintain job description database/system and manage field user access and maintain accurate documentation of jobs and descriptions. Create enhancements to job evaluation and description management process and assign job codes to new positions, maintain information quality by routinely running reports and assessing run reports to keep job listings current. In addition, will administer recognition programs as needed.
Skills and attributes for success
You will have good judgement when analyzing salary survey(s) and identify where differences exist between the EY job and the survey description. You will also have very good analytical and interpretation skills when following guidelines. When reviewing new or changed job descriptions, judgment is also needed to determine the relevance of the changes as it relates to the market pricing and whether an adjustment in pay band is warranted. You will have proven collaboration skills when consulting with Talent Consultants and other HR professionals when unusual pay issues arise. You will consult with the Talent Consultant to make an appropriate pay recommendation and consult with more senior Total Rewards/Compensation staff in these cases before a final decision is reached.
To qualify for this role, you must have
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. business, finance)
3- 5 years of compensation and/or human resources; experience with some experience with compensation planning and developing/managing job descriptions
A good working knowledge of general compensation principles and practices is required. This includes knowledge of statistics, salary range design, job description writing, survey completion and analysis, FLSA, etc. Knowledge of EY compensation programs, practices, and compensation related systems (e.g., CompAnalyst, Employee Central, RAC) is also essential.
Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, charts/graphs are required for modeling, data analysis, and report generation and manipulation.
Good verbal and written communication skills are important to work effectively with Talent team members, business leaders, external contacts at other firms and vendors
Survey Completion and Analysis. Assess job matches, generate reports, respond to survey vendor questions to ensure data quality, summarize, and analyze results.
