Reporting to the Executive Director of Consumer Insights, the Consumer Insights Intern will analyze user acquisition and engagement data to derive actionable insights that directly drive ebook sales from Open Road?s deals newsletters. Our team is looking to hire an individual to intern 15 to 29 hours per week.

As the Consumer Insights Intern, you will be focused on utilizing email KPIs and ebook sales and performance data to optimize efforts that maximize customer engagement and audience growth. You will help manage various marketing initiatives including email testing (creative, subject line, products offered etc.), customer acquisition efforts, and revenue reporting. Collaborating with other members and business units on the marketing team, you will assist in extensive retail promotions and digital advertising campaigns.

In addition to analytical skills and an interest in data, the ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communications skills. Candidates with an interest, or knowledge in books and the publishing industry will also be given preference. We are a small, fast-paced group, so hyper-organization and attention to detail?while still having your eye on the big picture?are key.

Essential Functions

  • Pull data and prepare reports on email marketing efforts, social media advertising and other marketing initiatives.

  • Write and edit email subject line and preview snippet copy, in addition to advertising copy for various paid media campaigns.

  • Data collections and entry and upkeep for various grids, spreadsheets and dashboards

  • Assist in managing daily email KPIs and book sales.

  • Leverage web analytics tools to measure the impact of digital marketing efforts.

  • Assist in managing customer acquisition campaigns across multiple digital platforms including Facebook Ad Manager, Google Ad Manager, and other key sources.

    Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLookup, pivot tables, and charts)

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Strong writing skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities

  • Familiarity with an email service provider (such as Sailthru) a plus

  • Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics a plus

  • Basic knowledge of SQL a plus
