Role Value Proposition:
This full-time position is responsible for the development and regulatory filing of contracts and other related forms and documents for MetLife’s Retirement Income Solutions organization.
Retirement Income Solutions, in MetLife’s Americas division, delivers retirement and benefit funding solutions in specialized markets. Retirement Income Solutions is a leading provider of stable value products, structured settlements, annuities for employer plans, and life insurance funding products. The Retirement Income Solutions Contracts organization works closely with legal and the product and sales teams to develop contracts for existing product sales as well as the contracts required for new product introductions.
Develops state insurance department regulatory filing submissions for highly complex products. The forms include contracts, amendments, endorsements, and other regulatory submissions such as memos of operation
Develop and analyze contracts and related forms and review applicable laws and regulations to ensure the documents filed are in compliance; recommend alternative strategies when appropriate
Draft and coordinate the development of investment management agreements associated with MetLife separate accounts
Partner with internal business partners including actuarial, legal, investments, sales, finance, marketing, and product to identify product specifications and contract requirements
Research and respond to insurance regulators, as well as internal and external customer questions regarding contract features and compliance
Provide technical support in the analysis of new product development and contract-related analysis required for due diligence activities
Coordinate cross-functional projects, as required
Addresses nonstandard assignments and may devise solutions without precedent, including Information Life Cycle Management processes and development of Contracts database
Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Subject matter expert widely recognized for his/her expertise and is considered a seasoned consultant in the contract development and compliance area
3-5+ years of relevant experience
Advanced technical knowledge and skills in group contract work for applicable products
BS/BA degree is strongly preferred
Paralegal or similar legal experience
Knowledge of insurance laws and regulations pertaining to contracts and filing procedures (including familiarity with the SERFF and I-File forms filing systems)
