THE JOB

Reports to: Senior Manager, Digital Engagement

Location: DoSomething.org has its headquarters in NYC. As a result of COVID-19, DoSomething staff are working fully remote. DoSomething is exploring a hybrid return to office approach with a target of fall 2021. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.

  • Target Start Date: June 30, 2021

  • Schedule: M-W, 15 hrs/wk during regular business hours (9:30 AM - 5:30 PM)

  • Compensation: $23.00 per hour

    We're looking for a detailed and versatile Digital Engagement Associate to join our team in support of a summer jam-packed with programs designed to activate young people to address some of the world’s most pressing causes, including climate justice, mental health, smoking cessation, and racial justice.

    The Digital Engagement Associate is a contract position reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Engagement, contributing to the mission and vision of DoSomething.org by executing on the messaging strategy as defined by the Senior Manager. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, organization, and autonomy to develop, test, and schedule Email and SMS messages for flawless execution and timely delivery of our impact programming.

    What you’ll do.

    Messaging (65%)

  • Manage the Email and SMS calendar and oversee each step of the messaging process including, drafting and finalizing copy, building (in Customer.io & Contentful), conducting QA, and shipping all messages.

  • Create segment lists and target communication strategies based on behaviors (e.g., past email engagement, website interactions, content engagement, site page visits, etc.).

  • Support the Senior Manager of Digital Engagement in launching new features and A/B tests; analyze results, and identify actionable opportunities to improve messaging performance.

    Strategy & Reporting (30%)

  • Analyze Email and SMS metrics and flag concerns to the Senior Manager of Digital Engagement; work in partnership to form hypotheses for performance

  • Create quarterly reports that track Email and SMS engagement, and under the direction of the Senior Manager, document best practices and learnings

  • Provide input and collaborate with cross-functional teams to help develop the content and messaging calendars

    Member Support (5%)

  • Investigate and troubleshoot solutions for issues raised through SMS and email support

    What you bring.

  • 1+ years of experience in an email marketing or content role. Internship experience applies.

  • Strong technical understanding of content management systems and messaging systems. Direct experience with Customer.io and/or Contentful CMS preferred.

  • Previous experience copywriting and proofreading is a plus.

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented with a proven track record prioritizing multiple stakeholder requests, creating efficient workflows, and managing up to keep projects moving along.

  • Autonomous, but you don’t shy away from asking for help. You know how to self-manage your time and resources, but you have no issue firing up Slack, Trello, or GSuite, and calling on the team for backup when needed.

  • A team player. You come with a proven background collaborating cross-functionally across diverse groups of stakeholders to deliver results.

  • Skilled in reporting. You are comfortable tracking information and navigating spreadsheets, distilling insights from data, and communicating data-backed recommendations for continuous process improvement.

  • You can’t imagine a better way to spend your days than unleashing your creative prowess to iterate on messaging strategies with an inclusive and intersectional equity lens that activates young people for social impact.

  • Annually on August 1, candidate profiles from 3+ years prior will be entirely deleted from our system.

    Is your data secure?

  • JazzHR maintains secure job board pages. Job boards will default to HTTPS. Additionally, if we were to terminate our contract with JazzHR our candidate data is deleted from JazzHR’s systems in accordance with JazzHR’s Terms of Service.
