Smithsonian Channel is a joint venture between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution. Our awe-inspiring programs, powerful documentaries and entertaining factual stories shine new light on popular genres such as air and space, history, science, nature, travel and pop culture. From legacy series such as Aerial America, Million Dollar American Princesses and Air Disasters to recent hits like America in Color, The Lost Tapes and The Coronation, our award-winning programming is available across multiple platforms in HD and 4K Ultra HD. The Channel is also available internationally in Canada, Singapore and Latin America, with more international launches to come in 2019. We currently have offices in New York City and Washington, DC.


  • Deliver all programming materials to UK PR agency on a consistent basis to help with pitching press outlets in the UK

  • Serve as liaison between Channel and all agencies, services (including listings) and companies for logistics and assets

  • Manage travel and contact with talent and producers alongside the UK PR agency when press has been secured

  • Help manage logistics and assets for Latin American press (work with consultant to identify opportunities in each market, send out monthly programming document, etc.)

  • Track press coverage in international and domestic markets for internal circulation and inclusion in weekly press reports & marketing recap materials

  • Research press who cover SVOD services, maintaining ongoing streaming press list and assisting with SVOD outreach for new streaming service post launch

  • Identify clips and assets to promote original series and specials upon announcement and ongoing throughout season runs

  • Coordinate assets with Legal/R&C to clear for promotional use

  • Ongoing research into competitive programming, timely press opportunities/events, etc.

  • Help with general administrative duties for the department


  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in publicity

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to work in fast paced environment

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Fluency with Spanish is a plus
