We're Food52, a groundbreaking and award-winning kitchen and home brand. We support, connect, and celebrate our community of cooks and home enthusiasts, giving them everything they need to eat thoughtfully and live joyfully.

We’re currently seeking a Full-Time Copywriter to join us in our New York City office. This position is a mix of creative copywriting and editorial storytelling—you’ll be writing e-commerce copy for our site, emails, and shop-focused articles for Food52’s specially curated collection of products.

But here’s the thing—we’re looking for someone who can bring their personality and a sense of humor to their copywriting. Our voice is fun and specific, yes, but if you can merge into our lane while still driving your own car, that would be basically the best.

So don’t be shy: Maybe your Instagram captions are hilarious, or you have your own shopping blog. Did you recently text your friends about a chocolate-chip cookie so good, you fell off a chair? This is the kind of friendly, relatable writing we’re looking for. (Huge bonus if you love making and/or eating food, and if you’re already into our brand.)

This position will be a great fit for someone with a minimum of 1-2 years of editorial or copywriting experience, and we love people who are eager to learn and grow with us. If you have a big imagination, the flexibility to take edits in stride, and can hit deadlines while still nailing the details, you’ll do great here.


  • Telling the world about our Shop products, recipes, and features in an inventive, inviting, and conversational way

  • Writing product detail pages, working with our marketing and buying teams to learn the big story behind each one, then doing research and whipping it all up into a benefit-oriented and delightful description for our shoppers

  • Writing a batch of emails in the Food52 brand voice every week

  • Keeping abreast of data trends and Shop performance to inform approach to subject lines, hooks, and copy

  • Working out the kinks in each project through a fast-paced review process involving stakeholders across many teams. Remaining flexible and agile with changes to copy

  • Keeping an eye on the internet and the seasons at all times to spot trends worth incorporating into promotions

  • Working closely with the editorial, marketing, commerce, and customer service teams to promote the Food52 brand both online and in print

  • Pitching and writing compelling articles to support our products and share the stories behind the people who make them


  • Minimum 1 to 2 years editorial or copywriting experience in home design and/or food media

  • A love of beautiful and functional kitchen and home spiffer-uppers, plus opinions about what makes each one compelling

  • Demonstrated ability to write quickly, gracefully, and accurately—and adapt to an established brand voice

  • Obsessive attention to detail: You're maddened by typos and broken links, delighted by finding and fixing them

  • Cheerful, solution-oriented attitude under pressure
