The opportunity

EY’s internal corporate strategy function, the Office of Strategic Execution (OSE) drives the firm’s most important strategic decisions, and execution of the firm’s global strategy. The Office brings analytical rigor and market insight to EY’s strategic decision-making and processes.

The OSE consists of four inter-related functions: Strategic intelligence, Portfolio management and capital allocation (PMCA), Strategic execution, and Corporate development.

This role is within the PMCA function. The PMCA teamdevelops ongoing processes and supports business analytics that monitor EY’s business portfolio, identify any adjustments that need to be made, and help to prioritize areas of strategic investment (or divestment) for the firm.

The Portfolio Management and Capital Allocation (PMCA) Manager (Assistant Director) for the Americas will play a key role in EY’s corporate strategy function, and report directly to the PMCA Executive Director.

Your key responsibilities

  • Analytics – help develop analytics used to evaluate EY’s portfolio of businesses to assist the firm leadership in optimally allocating investment capital

  • Annual Portfolio Review – Assist in driving the America’s annual portfolio review, used to inform capital allocation priorities

  • Annual integrated planning process – help guide the annual long-term strategic planning process for the Americas used to develop growth ambition and investment capital prioritization

  • Monitor performance

  • Strategic alignment of investment capital - Ensure investments fit strategic priorities and are driving profitable growth

  • Help determine affordability of investments based on profit targets

  • Update Capital subcommittee on investment capital allocation (bi-monthly)

  • Help develop analytic tools and business processes to improve the firm’s understanding of return on investment for different categories of capital allocation

  • Deep-dive strategic projects and business case development - deep-dive projects to analyze key strategic priorities

  • May act as a counselor or mentor to guide the work of junior team members

Skills and attributes required for success

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills

  • Strong financial modeling skills; ability to interpret meaning behind numbers

  • Ability to create a fact-based thesis and tell a story with analysis

  • Ensures deliverables and actions align to firm strategy

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree, equivalent relevant experience

  • Approximately 4 – 6 plus years of related work experience in corporate strategy/development, management consulting, private equity or investment banking

  • Strong finanancial modeling skills and experience telling the story with analysis

  • Understanding of value creation principles

  • PMO experience

  • Experience using visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau etc.)

  • Experience analyzing business service companies, preferred

  • Related Bachelors’ degree and/or Masters’ degree, equivalent relevant experience
