Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP Current Awareness Manager in New York, New York

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with more than 4,000 lawyers and staff in 31 offices, is seeking a Current Awareness Manager. A leader on the Strategy and Development Competitive Intelligence team, the Current Awareness Manager interacts with a local and virtual team of colleagues and uses an extensive collection of internal and external resources to support current awareness and competitive intelligence initiatives, including the production of current awareness newsletters and alerts. Working closely with the Current Awareness Coordinator, the Current Awareness Manager also collaborates with coworkers cross-functionally to complete special projects to advance and improve the firm's industry knowledge, support firm priorities, and ultimately drive revenue growth.

Although currently remote, this position can reside in any of our US offices.

Key responsibilities include:

Manages current awareness platform administration, including user management and audits, creating usage analytics reports and maintaining user distribution lists.

Centralizes and manages alerts using firm resources and standardized search protocols

Serves as a subject matter expert, instructing users on current awareness tools and best practices

Supports the evaluation and testing of external and internal current awareness products

Consults with stakeholders to evaluate their alerting needs and recommends, formulates, and implements appropriate strategies

Creates current awareness newsletters and alerts using numerous resources including Convergence, Manzama, Lexis NewsDesk, and Bloomberg Law

Maintains legislative tracking and docket alerting using Courthouse News in addition to other internal and external resources

Monitors legal industry trends such as economic, political and regulatory trends impacting the legal community, and their relevance to firm

Supervises and manages Current Awareness Coordinator

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.), Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) or equivalent graduate level degree, and a minimum of 5 years of legal and business research experience in a law firm or other professional services environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong interest in current events and curiosity and desire to remain informed of market and industry trends

Effective written and oral communications skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals with differing opinions and diverse personalities

Commitment to exceptional client service and dedication to high-quality work

Project management, time management, and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment

Discretion in dealing with confidential information

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs

Knowledge of current awareness tools and news aggregators such as Convergence, Manzama, Lexis NewsDesk, and Bloomberg Law

Ability to produce bespoke current awareness reports

Flexibility with working hours
