What you’ll do

As the Deductions Analyst, you will share in the responsibility for clearing Trade and Non-trade deductions in our Trade Management System (Trade-Pro) and our accounts receivable ledger within our JDE system. This team member will be responsible for assisting in the resolution of all AR Trade & Non trade-related deductions while working in conjunction with the Sales Team, Brokers, Accounts Receivable Team, Operations, external logistics partners, and customers to validate and resolve outstanding deductions. Responsibilities also include assisting in cash collections of disputed deductions, issuing credit memos and the maintenance of reports and statistics to identify trends and solutions to reduce deduction balances as well as prevent future deductions; and this is how you will do it….

Trade Deductions Functions and Responsibilities

  • Validate and match deductions with appropriate promotional plans in Trade-Pro

  • Direct liaison with Field Sales team and brokers to administer and track promotions and payments in Trade-Pro software

  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to initiate account specific bill requests pertaining to trade

  • Coordinate deduction back-up including loading into Trade-Pro and sharing with brokers as required

Non-Trade Deductions Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform research on non-trade deductions and make recommendations on whether deductions are valid or invalid. This includes securing support from assigned customer base, working with internal and external resources to determine the validity of the deductions and securing approvals to clear valid deductions.

  • Maintain support for valid deductions

  • Perform research on recurring deductions, identify trends and help in identifying root causes and solutions to prevent deductions from continuing. Partner with operations, customer service, finance and sales teams as well as customers to achieve this goal

  • Issue credit memos in JDE specific to customer returns and other valid customer claims

Invalid Deductions

  • Dispute invalid Trade & Non-Trade deductions with the customer and work in coordination with the Sales Team, Brokers to insure reclaims are collected and work with AR Cash Collections teams to create chargebacks within JDE for invalid deductions.

  • Work closely with Accounts Receivable for all trade and non-trade deductions

Approvals to clear

  • Authorize and clear valid deductions based on supporting documentation and prescribed approval limits

Reporting

  • Assist in providing monthly reporting to finance and operations management to identify deduction trends and track results for assigned customer base

Required Experience:

You have…

  • Minimum 1-3 years AR experience. Prior experience working with deduction policies and procedures while collecting invalid deductions is highly preferred

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferred

  • Strong PC skills particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Demonstrated ability to follow prescribed procedures leading to effective non-trade deduction management

  • Demonstrated ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives

  • Consumer packaged goods experience strongly preferred

  • Ability and desire to partner cross-functionally with internal and external partners to drive results

  • Ability to manage time, multiple priorities and handle a high volume of work
