Job Descriptions:

W. W. Norton is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and intelligent individual to join Norton’s digital product team. While known for being the nation’s largest independent, employee-owned book publishing firm, W. W. Norton also has a growing list of digital applications that serve students, instructors, and general readers. The Digital Product Coordinator will work with production, editorial, and the digital products teams to implement processes to make digital content management more efficient, accelerate product development, and better meet customer needs. The Digital Product Coordinator will regularly track and report on the status of digital projects. In close coordination with the Accessibility and Standards team, the Digital Product Coordinator will work with vendors to generate alt-text and facilitate processing digital content in other formats. The ideal candidate cares deeply about organizational efficiency, has a strong growth mindset, and is able to work independently. This position reports directly t to the Chief Product Officer.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Tracking and reporting on the status of digital projects; maintaining databases that feed production reports.

  • Managing the process of generating alt-text, audio descriptions, and other materials to ensure that Norton content is accessible to all customers.

  • Professionally interacting with vendors, editorial, production, operations, and digital product teams to collect the information teams need to operate efficiently.

  • Administrative management: organizing and maintaining files; tracking and processing invoices and payments.

  • Creating and editing Excel and Word documents to support projects and/or office responsibilities.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.

  • Must be able to work full business hours from Norton’s New York City headquarters. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are temporarily providing employees the option to work remotely.

  • Must be highly organized, disciplined, and self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills in a position that demands collaboration across several different departments.

  • Must have good time management skills and be capable of prioritizing among responsibilities, activities, and side projects.

  • Must be able to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions.

  • Must be able to develop rapport and relationships with all levels of employees.

  • Must be seen as knowledgeable and capable of handling sensitive, critical information.

  • Must be proactive, flexible and adaptive in a rapidly changing environment and adjust with a "can-do" attitude.

  • Must be self-directed and independent.

  • Must be detail-oriented, making sure that all aspects of the daily activities are handled with accuracy and minimal mistakes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Excel, JIRA, and other project management systems is highly desired.

  • Experience managing large volumes of files and maintaining version control is highly desired.

  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS is a plus.
