The charter of Porfolio Operations is to connect teams. The Director of Portfolio Operations will lead the successful delivery and evolution of a complex technology roadmap, supporting Global Streaming innovation, scalability, and international expansion. A visionary leader, pragmatic problem-solver, and seasoned strategist, this role will influence how the organization operates by building scalable processes, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement across tools, methodologies, and ways of working.

This role resides within the Portfolio Operations team in the Global Delivery function within the Global Streaming Technology organization and will be instrumental in shaping operational excellence across a global organization spanning NBCU, Sky, and international syndication partners. The Global Streaming organization delivers a world-class, multi-tenant platform syndicating content to multiple international markets, including the following products: Peacock (United States), SkyShowtime (20+ European countries), and Showmax (40+ African countries).

The Director of Portfolio Operations will play a critical role on the team and within the Global Streaming organization broadly. This position will report to the Senior Director, Portfolio Operations, and will work in a highly matrixed structure, interfacing with business, product, architecture, and engineering teams across NBCU, Sky, and the wider Comcast group. The ideal candidate should demonstrate broad subject matter expertise in the discipline of technology portfolio operations (e.g., design and implementation of processes in a complex, matrixed organization, tooling and systems architecture, value-add reporting, communications strategy, capacity management and planning, PMO), have experience managing and coaching a team, working across continents, and fundamentally be a problem-solver with the desire to proactively embrace challenges and act like an owner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership. Shape and execute a strategic roadmap for Portfolio Operations that aligns with organizational objectives and drives operational excellence across thousands of professionals globally.

  • Problem Solving. Act as a key advisor to senior leadership, addressing complex organizational and operational challenges with innovative, data-driven solutions.

  • Portfolio Operations Leadership. Manage a Portfolio Operations team, setting a vision for its growth, mentoring talent, and establishing best practices for program and portfolio management.

  • Relationship Building. Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders and international partners, aligning on goals and priorities while fostering trust and collaboration.

  • Operational Excellence. Optimize tooling, processes, and workflows by leveraging broad subject-matter expertise, leading large-scale tooling transformations and data migrations.

  • Change Management. Guide the organization through change by establishing clear communication, reporting mechanisms, and alignment across diverse global teams and syndication partners.

  • Continuous Improvement. Champion a culture of lifelong learning and iterative improvement, identifying opportunities for innovation in ways of working and delivery efficiency.

  • 10+ years of experience in program management, portfolio management, consulting, or PMO leadership within telecommunications, media, or technology organizations managing complex, large-scale initiatives

  • 5+ years of expertise in agile methodologies, a variety of program and project management principles, and change management within distributed and/or hybrid working environments

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with core Atlassian toolset, including Jira and Confluence

  • 3+ years leading and coaching diverse, high-performing teams

  • Lifelong learner with a track record of achieving personal growth

  • Exceptional communication skills, including mastery of storytelling and presentation skillsets

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in technology, software engineering, or a related field

Desired Characteristics:

  • 5+ years experience in management consulting is preferred, with demonstrated success solving complex organizational challenges and implementing strategic solutions

  • 5+ years experience with PMO or Portfolio Operations development, organizational design, and operational scaling in global environments

  • Demonstrated experience with capacity planning and capacity management strategies in a matrixed organization

  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of global and/or syndicated strategy

  • Advanced understanding of media technology systems, tooling implementation (e.g., Atlassian suite), and integrations for large-scale platforms

  • Certification in program, project, or agile methodologies (e.g., PMP, SAFe, Scrum Master) is not a hard requirement for this role, but it is a plus
