Job Summary

Director of CEO Communications (West Coast)

NetApp's Corporate Communications Team is seeking a seasoned communications leader who can partner with the Vice President of Corporate Communications and Head of Executive Communications to develop its Chief Executive Officer's communications agenda, which supports achievement of the company's strategic objectives and helps articulate and amplify the company narrative internally and externally. This person will lead the execution of this communications agenda, which includes the CEO's external and internal communications, thought leadership, speeches, social channels, awards, meetings, and conferences/speaking invitations.

This role involves a high degree of relationship building with the Company's key executive leaders including members of the Executive Leadership Team. The CEO Communications leader will work across Business Units and Centers of Excellence to ensure the CEO's preferences and needs are represented when implementing communications programs or initiatives across the Enterprise.

We are looking for a passionate storyteller with an astute business mind who can be the architect of our executive story. The right candidate should be self-motivated, strategic, data- and KPIs-driven, highly collaborative and customer obsessed, and have both internal and external communications experience.

This role reports directly to the Head of Executive Communications.

Responsibilities:

\* Lead, develop and implement, in partnership with the Head of Executive Communications, the CEO's integrated communications strategy and plan. This will include defining and directly managing internal and external communications strategies and platforms, and ensure they align with our company narrative, enduring purpose and strategic priorities.

\* Drive execution of the CEO communications plan through multiple matrix partnerships.

\* Oversee and create all CEO internal and external communications including memos, talking points/scripts, key messages/Q&A, video scripts, and speeches.

\* Guide management of CEO communications channels (internal and external) to include planning and editorial execution

\* Implement processes that drive long-term planning, high-quality content gathering, and rigorous execution across all aspects of CEO communications.

\* Partner with internal communications on developing Global All Hands, Ask Me Anything sessions, VP Huddles, etc. including cadence, agenda setting, content creation, logistics and pre- and post-colleague communications.

\* Partner closely with the internal communications team to help support crisis communications and strategic communications around employee experience.

\* Work closely with the PR, AR and social media teams on proactively and reactively identifying and seizing thought leadership opportunities to drive NetApp's industry-leading reputation and boost company awareness in key markets around the world

\* Partner closely with the President's Chief of Staff and with the rest of the Communications team, the Marketing team and other functions' leadership teams (such as the HR team) to ensure message consistency and alignment, and maximize impact

\* Identify the best channels and formats to deliver executive communications internally and externally and proactively use data points / metrics to measure success, adjust tactics and maximize impact.

Requirements and Qualifications

\* 12+ years of experience in corporate communications and/or executive communications (including both internal and external communications experience) developing world-class communications strategies and programs

\* Experience working with executives in large companies

\* Global perspective and experience working at a global company; understanding and sensitivity to global differences

\* Strong executive presence

\* High emotional intelligence

\* Strong understanding of the communications ecosystem and the importance of multi-channel planning (internal and external channels)

\* Excellent writing and editing skills; a storyteller at heart

\* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills

\* Ability to present information in an accurate yet unique and compelling manner with an executive voice

\* Mastery of modern communications workflow processes and tools, including videos, podcasts, etc.

\* Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly

\* Operate with a sense of urgency

\* Excellent analytical and time-management skills

\* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, and One Drive)

\* Sufficient technical background and understanding of the IT industry to be able to incorporate technical messages fluently

\* Experience working at a publicly-traded company preferred

\* Knowledge of the cloud computing or storage industry a plus

\* Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field

Education

IC - Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience.Mgr & Exec - Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience.
