This role will drive communications strategies and activities that help advance the company's business and reputation while building authentic, long-term relationships with stakeholders, influencers and thought leaders. Develops and leads the Eyewear company's corporate communications efforts including public relations, social and digital communications, executive communications, employee communications, corporate responsibility, crisis communications strategies and plays a leading role in driving integrated communications programs targeting multiple audiences.
Direct global public relations programs and day-to-day communications to guide and define goals and tactics for the company's global PR teams and PR agency network to drive consistent global editorial coverage and earned media.
Lead development of all strategies, press materials, assets and tools to complement global product launches, seasonal campaigns, events and special projects, as well as develop corporate videos, presentations and executive remarks/speeches.
Partner with peer functions in Brand Marketing, Trade Marketing and Sales, as well as with the parent company's communications teams, to align and elevate communication strategies, messaging, branding priorities, corporate communications initiatives, and social and digital communications.
Develop and deploy integrated communications to ensure corporate brand values, standards, culture and aesthetic are unified and globally consistent among internal and external stakeholders.
Manage the executive communications with a focus on developing in-depth messaging, comprehensive briefing packages, scripts, speeches and written content for the president of Marchon and other Marchon executives.
Execute crisis and external risk management to minimize or mitigate reputation of the business.
Translate business strategy into actionable communications and PR strategies to broaden awareness of the company's portfolio of brands/products.
Organize and coordinate high-visibility promotional programs and events such as product launches, seasonal press days, corporate events, and philanthropic initiatives and establish parameters and tone for global roll-outs.
Oversight of day-to-day dealings with USA trade editors/publications as well as leading the direction of the USA PR agency for consumer PR activity.
Direct the company's social media team/s to drive strategy and presence through compelling content creation (corporate, user-generated and influencers) to drive narratives, initiatives and support brand partners, retailers and special projects across all channels.
Manage departmental budget and resources to achieve efficient and impactful results and maximize ROI.
Establish and maintain collaborative, successful relationships with licensing partners to ensure seamless communication of goals and priorities.
Ensure that corporate and brand leaders are kept current on issues which have the potential to affect the business.
Develop the divisional budget and monitor expenses to ensure costs are within established levels.
Oversee the hiring and interviewing process for open positions within the division ensuring that the most qualified candidates are selected.
Ensure effective communications are maintained within the division and externally where appropriate; inform employees of plans and progress.
Monitor performance of direct reports; provide prompt and objective coaching and counseling; conduct performance reviews.
Candidates typically have the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
15 years of experience in senior Public Relations or Communications leadership roles.
15 years of experience in leadership, supervision, and/or management of teams.
Provides leadership as a coach and engages and energizes teams by communicating ideas clearly and in a manner that compels action and results.
Creative thinker with a proven track record and an affinity for fashion & lifestyle brands, who works collaboratively across the global organization to build credibility with internal and external stakeholders and positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
Collaborative, innovative communications leader able to work with, influence and counsel senior executives on sensitive and confidential matters.
Energetic, flexible and proactive team leader who can build, mentor and coach team members in a results oriented environment.
Crisis communications experience; sound judgment and ability to operate calmly in high-pressure, short-deadline situations.
Ability to represent the company externally to clients, customers and public officials for speaking engagements and presentations, as needed.
Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills; experience in strategic communications plan development.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of time.
