The Director of Network Contracting develops the provider network (physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, ancillary groups & facilities, etc.) yielding a geographically competitive, broad access, stable network that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners. Directors of Network Contracting evaluate and negotiate contracts in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with Hospital, Physician, Pharmacy, or Ancillary providers, and ensuring the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, translate, and execute strategies or functional / operational objectives for a region, line of business, or major portion of a business segment functional area
Apply network configuration and incentive - based payment models as appropriate to improve quality and efficiency
Direct others to resolve highly complex or unusual business problems that affect major functions or disciplines
Provides leadership to and is accountable for performance and results through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff
Drive programs that impact markets of customers and consumers
Seeking seasoned professional with NY market knowledge, extensive network strategy experience, direct hospital and physician contracting experience, including value based

Required Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in a network management related role handling complex network providers with accountability for business results
5+ years of experience in developing of product pricing and utilizing financial modeling in making rate decisions
4+ years of experience with provider contracting
3+ years of management experience
2+ years of experience delivering presentations
Expert level of knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodologies such as Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS), DRGs, Ambulatory Surgery Center Groupers, etc.
Intermediate or better level of proficiency with MS Excel
Willing and able to travel up to 25% within Long Island, NYC, Hudson Valley
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate or higher-level degree
15+ years of experience in the healthcare industry
5+ years of experience developing and managing a medical cost and administrative budget
Experience with multiples lines of business
Experience with large providers, including hospitals
Experience contracting in they NY market
Proven solid customer service skills
Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven solid interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $142,300 to $273,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
