Peloton Interactive, Inc. Director of Apparel Development & Design in New York, New York

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are in search of a Director of Apparel Development & Design to join our team. In this role you will be responsible to lead creative strategy, concept and product creation for Peloton Apparel. Dually partnering with the Merchandising and Product Development team on seasonal and capsule product strategy to develop best-in class product. The candidate for this role will have proven leadership and experience in development and design of product, fit and construction, an in-depth knowledge of performance apparel and the active market, proven ability to align the divisional development strategy with business plans and objectives.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Responsible for leading the apparel design and technical design team, leading process from sketching, tech pack creation and maintenance, garment fittings, technique development and development-related follow-up partnering with related team members to take product from concept to production ready

  • Be at the forefront of formulating fabric, color, print and trims into a cohesive product assortment that is consistent with business strategies & customer needs

  • Lead meetings with design and merchandising to engage the teams in idea generation and encourage collaboration in order to facilitate a unified vision across categories that aligns with business strategies

  • Research competitor products, product opportunities, color and market trends and filter into relevant concepts appropriate to the business and Peloton member community

  • Demonstrate curiosity in a broad and complex business environment transcending the traditional competitive landscape in order to engage Peloton members and acquire new market share, ability to funnel innovation into commercialized products and strategies

  • Responsible for developing and providing design and innovation concepts to cross functional partners in Product Development, Technical Design and Merchandising that offer the opportunity to expand into new categories and product opportunities relevant to the Peloton community

  • Ensure that attention to detail is being paid to product during all stages of development through to production and manufacturing

  • Oversee proto & SMS requests and partner with product development for sample development and launch according to calendar timelines.

  • Evaluate prototypes at all stages of development and production to closely collaborate with the technical design teams for product execution

  • Maintain consistency and accuracy of information flow between Design, Development and Merchandising teams

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • 8-10 years experience in apparel design and development with proven leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of apparel manufacturing processes, with a focus on performance fabrics, techniques and construction

  • Understanding of costing process and cost engineering

  • Effective communicator and process leader, ability to mentor and train other team members on new processes

  • Keen eye for detail, trend and innovation opportunities and ability to translate these into commercial products

  • A great teammate with a positive approach, no task too big or too small attitude

  • Highly organized & detail oriented with strong time management skills with the ability to drive process and results to meet calendar requirements and expectations

  • Eagerness and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, driven by teamwork and collaborative innovation

  • Strong knowledge of apparel PLM systems, implementation experience
