Super Soccer Stars Coaching Director of Coaching in New York, New York

Soccer Stars United travel soccer program carries over 300 players from ages 7-18 across 25+ travel teams in NYC. With a philosophy centered on providing players with a nurturing yet challenging environment – the Club encourages every player to express themselves, be creative and take educated risks on the soccer field. While Soccer Stars United is a competitive program by description, it is developmental in nature; technical improvement and confidence building remain the program’s primary objectives along with providing a pathway for players into the collegiate game and beyond.

The Director of Coaching will be responsible for bringing excellence onto the field of play by developing and managing an elite, professional coaching team consistent with the long-term goals and objectives set for the club.

Responsibilities:

The four principal areas of Director of Coaching oversight include (but are not limited to):

  1. The Player Pathway
  • Overseeing and monitoring player & team selection and distribution

  • across travel teams, in accordance with travel team growth targets

  • Monitoring ongoing player development for all players born 2004-2014

  • to ensure that players are playing at developmentally appropriate levels

  • Identifying and overseeing college pathway program

  1. Coach Development Management
  • Travel team coach recruitment & team assignment

  • Implement and monitor ongoing Coach education and licensing program

  • Provide seasonal coach observation & assessments

  • Personnel management/HR & coordination

  • Oversee the tracking and allocation of the Coach Bonus Program

  1. Team Coordination
  • League selection

  • Tournament and showcase identification and selection

  • Team parent communication, education and information

  1. Curriculum Development & Implementation
  • Prepare lesson plan and curriculum items

  • Identifying best practice for training and tactical progression

  • Oversee quality control practice and games

General Activity Breakdown:

  • Observe and provide coaching development reviews of all Soccer Stars United Coaches to ensure Practice and Game Day delivery consistent with the Club’s Policy & Guidelines

  • Provide the United Department with hands-on assistance in developing, refining and implementing club-wide policies and procedures

  • Identify, interview, hire and manage coaching team

  • Oversee seasonal player evaluation process and oversee selection and distribution of players with ongoing oversight to ensure appropriate team placement

  • Provide training, education and on-boarding for travel team coaches

  • Train and monitor Soccer Stars United coaches and assist with age specific seasonal plans

  • Design and implement parent educational program that would include parent meetings, parent handbooks, and seminars

Requirements

  • National USSF B, UEFA B and above or equivalent

  • Proven coaching abilities including at least 5 years of coaching experience

  • Experience coaching Elite travel teams and with children ages 8 and up

  • Developed understanding of both US and European academy and collegiate soccer system

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Director of Coaching within US youth soccer

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills

  • Customer service oriented

  • Proficiency in Google G-Suite

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Experience in project management

  • Aptitude for effectively preparing and delivering presentations to large group(s)
