ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY
Positioned at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, on levels 100, 101, and 102 – One World Observatory provides guests with unique, panoramic views of New York City, its most iconic sites, and surrounding waters from 1,250 feet. THE ROLE
The Finance Director is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. The Finance Director is additionally responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving OWO's financial strategy and planning. The Finance Director will have oversight of the Accounting and Finance functions. Furthermore, this position will monitor and analyze capital and operating budgets, including monthly financial analyses, monthly forecasting, annual planning, cash forecasting, and ad hoc business analyses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
Provide status on the financial condition of OWO by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data
Review and prepare monthly financial results, forecasts, and externally required financial reports. Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for senior management.
Provide strategic advice based on analyzing trends in the operation and financial performance of OWO
Assist senior management with analysis of information and prospective decisions based on information obtained from Accounting and operating results
Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets. Design and implement cost savings solutions.
Manage budget and control expenses effectively
Participate in the planning and administration of the annual budget process including detailed review of departmental budget submissions
Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger
Daily reconciliation of cash and credit card transactions
Prepare a daily flash revenue report
Prepare weekly and monthly financial forecasts for comparison to budget
Oversee the inventory process and perform in-depth cost of goods analysis
Coordinate monthly financial statement preparation
Ensure a timely and accurate month end closing process
Analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and expose performance trends
Build solid working relationships with business and department leaders
Have a thorough understanding of, and the ability to review contracts
Communicate results of analytical review in verbal and written presentations
Perform other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferably in tourism or hospitality industry
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office software required
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail essential
Must be highly analytical, have the ability to think creatively, and to understand complex business dynamics
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline oriented environment
Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as required
Knowledge of Accesso and point of sale systems a plus
