Facebook Director of Research, Public Figures and Monetization in New York, New York

Facebook is looking for an experienced research leader with seasoned research, communication and people management skills to lead research for one of Facebook’s most crucial product organizations: Public Figures and Monetization. Our team’s mission is to give everyone an economic opportunity — from small businesses to content creators to public figures. We strive to help people discover and connect with the public content, public figures and businesses they care about. We aim to build the world’s most innovative products that Facebook users, advertisers and content creators love.In this role, you will lead a team of researchers and research managers focused on conducting high quality research that influences product development and strategy for Facebook’s work on public figures and monetization. You will help your team generate actionable insights to ensure we are providing the best experience to our global user base. To be successful in this position, you will need deep research expertise to ensure your team’s work is high-quality, strong leadership skills to build and set a vision for your research team, and the ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships to drive the overall strategy for the product team.

Required Skills:

  1. Drive research excellence via a team of research managers and individual contributors

  2. Work closely with cross-functional partners to set the strategic direction of the product org

  3. Communicate insights to teams and leadership to influence decision-making

  4. Advocate for the research perspective and represent the user

  5. Create an inclusive team environment

  6. Partner with other research leaders to help shape the research function at Facebook

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years of management experience in user experience research or a related research field, including experience managing managers

  2. Experience overseeing rigorous, impactful research different stages of the product lifecycle (e.g., generative, iterative, evaluative)

  3. Track record of overseeing both qualitative and quantitative research that influences the strategic direction of product teams

  4. Track record of managing teams, including attracting external talent and building the team’s capacity over time

  5. Experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, designers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in the domains of advertising, SMBs, public figures, or creators

  2. Experience conducting research to drive 0 to 1 product development

  3. Expertise in survey development
