The Tax Director is responsible for leading the company's tax compliance, accounting for income taxes, and developing tax strategies to support the company's financial goals. This role will work closely with senior management, internal and external stakeholders, and other finance professionals to effective and efficient tax processes.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the accounting for income taxes, including the preparation and review of tax provisions, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowance analysis, and footnote disclosures.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state and local tax returns, including all related analysis workpapers and support, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all tax-related financial information.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits by governmental authorities.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the company.
  • Proactively identify and research tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize compliance.
  • Ensure effective internal controls over tax processes in compliance with SOX.
  • Oversee international tax compliance, intercompany agreements, and transfer pricing with current and future business expansion.
  • Provide guidance on the tax implications of business decisions and potential transactions.
  • Improve tax processes by identifying and implementing best-in-class methodologies and tools.
  • Lead the coordination and relationships with external tax advisors and consultants.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in tax-related positions at a Big 4 accounting firm and/or a publicly traded company.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, compliance, accounting, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to embrace technology to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of day-to-day tax processes.

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $180,000 - $190,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
