The Salvation Army Divisional Statistician / Corps Management Database Specialist in New York, New York

Overview

The Divisional Statistician is responsible for maintaining all statistical records and reports for the Greater New York Division. This position will also seek to turn raw data collected into organized and insightful information, to be used by Corps and all DHQ Departments.

Responsibilities

  • Generate statistical reports from 38 plus Salvation Army field units every month.

  • Filter data by reviewing reports and identifying any statistical recording errors.

  • Communicate policies, guidelines, specific and seasonal instructions, and modifications to the field.

  • Prepare necessary reports every month as needed.

  • Coordinate statistical and membership roll training for Field Officers, as requested.

  • Prepare necessary forms for annual Program Reviews and Member Roll Revisions

  • Assist with preparation of reports for the Annual Command Review.

  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Divisional Report.

  • Prepare final analysis for DHQ Departments and Corps, enabling them to make decisions based on various facts and trends.

  • Visit Corps, as directed by the Program Secretary.

  • Work with the Program Secretary, the Divisional Secretary for Mission Engagement and Corps Revitalization, and Corps Officers to monitor the completion, updating and accuracy of the data in the Corps Management Database.

  • Train and assist Field Officers and local personnel in using and maintaining the Corps Management Database.

  • Process Local Officer paperwork and prepare Local Officer Commission Certificates ,

  • Update the Local Officer Commissions in the Corps Membership Database.

  • Assist Field Officers with transfers, as needed.

  • Monitor and assist with statistical recording of enrollments.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma: some college preferred.

  • Salvationist preferred or familiarity with Salvation Army programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Statistical analysis experience/education required.

  • Two to five years of clerical experience preferred.

  • Strong math skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data.

  • Quick learner.

  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Edge, Outlook, Windows, and Word

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet competing deadlines.

  • Advanced proficiency in data entry

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

  • Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army
