Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP Docket Clerk in New York, New York
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading international law firms with over 4,000 lawyers and staff in 31 offices, is seeking a Docket Clerk to support the Litigation Practice Group. Although currently remote, this position will reside in the New York office and will report to the Managing Clerk. The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers, paralegals and administrative staff with calendaring, filings and deadlines.
Responsibilities in this role include:
Maintain the computerized docket system for litigation and labor lawyers for multiple courts and jurisdictions
Review correspondence for deadline details including pleadings, discovery, filings and deposition notices and enter into the calendaring database
Research inquiries from legal and administrative staff regarding deadlines
File litigation documents electronically in state and federal courts
Hand-deliver legal documents to various courts but primarily to the Southern District of New York and New York County Supreme Court
Submit documents to the New York State Department of State for legalization (apostilles)
Coordinate with outside service-of-process vendors nationwide, including follow-up on status and receipt of proof of service
Maintain tracking of litigation cases on eTracks, Courtalert.com and PACER
Retrieve documents from courts' websites and interface with outside vendors to retrieve documents from courts nationwide
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
A minimum of five years of related experience
Notary Public is required
Strong oral and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
Comfortable in a team environment as well as an individual contributor
Planning/organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
The employee is also required at times to travel to various locations in the metropolitan area whether it be on foot, via public transportation or taxi.
MS-Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and iManage or similar document management software
ProLaw or similar docketing software
Research Software: BloombergLaw.com, Courthousenews.com, Courtalert.com, eTracks, NYSCEF, PACER, NAPPS, and eCourts.
